The 2016 RAV4 Hybrid is the most efficient compact crossover in America while at the same time being the fastest RAV4. If you're RAV shopping, the hybrid model should be tops on your list.

The Toyota RAV4 remains a perennial favorite thanks to its compact size, spacious interior, sleek styling and well-deserved reputation for reliability and resale.

p.s. in the UK, they have 5-6 month waiting list for Rav4 Hybrid... Toyota UK estimated 50% of sales will go hybrid but it is around 70% and more than they expected, so there are big waiting times right now.

Referring to this list, http://www.nhtsa.gov/Laws+&+Regulati...ALA%29+Reports

The RAV4 and RAV4 hybrid are the only vehicles listed with Chinese engines.

The only other vehicle I can see with Chinese parts is a Cadillac CT6-17% and a Buick Encore -18%.

so the 'japanese' rav4 hybrid and nx hybrid use an engine built in china. where's the outrage here? i personally couldn't care less. it's now possible to build great quality products anywhere.

+1

I'm starting to see a lot of the hybrid models around. I think it was long overdue.

Looking at gov site, Japanese Rav4's come with Japanese and Chinese engines built engines, US Rav4 comes with US and Japanese built engines.

Lexus NX is always Japanese built.

Personally, I trust them to have same quality control anywhere... Here in Europe Toyota's turkish plant usually gets the best plant awards, not British or French plants while engines are always done in Poland.

You misread. The NX has a Japanese engine.

Who said anything about outrage?

I was surprised hear about it. Appears to be an industry first. My curiosity made me look into it. Anywhere it's built can have a problem. I had one of the Toyota "Sludge engines".

Needs more power and refinement for the next Rav4, regardless of where its built or where the engine came from. Especially for a model expected to outsell the Camry in the future.

Toyota has made a series of updates to the RAV4 for the 2017MY consisting of additional safety features, more gadgets and new color options.

The most important addition to the range is the Safety Sense, whichbecomes standard across all modelsexcept for the entry-level Active Trim, where it can be had as an option of £1,060 (on top of the SUV's starting price of £23,755. The suite of driver assist technology includes Pre-Collision with autonomous braking, Lane Departure Alert, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beam and road sign assist.

Business Edition, Business Edition Plus, Icon and Excel cars have received the brand's Touch 2 with Go multimedia navigation package, at no extra cost, with 3-year free map updates, joined by the front and rear parking sensors, and ambient footwell lighting on the first three.

On top of this, the range-topping Excel models benefit from "more sophisticated navigation functions", as the automaker states, including the 3D maps and voice recognition. Moreover, this version of the RAV4 also gains new black rooflining, which changes to grey if a sunroof is added, along with memory function for the power adjustable driver's seat. Excel buyers can also specify it with a new Premium Pack that adds a hands-free power tailgate, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert and sunroof.

Other changes made by Toyota on the 2017 RAV4 include the availability of the 2.0-liter D-4D FWD powertrain on the Business Edition Plus trim and two new exterior colors - Silver Blade and Phantom Blue. These shades are said to be available in a "full body" finish for the Icon and Excel variants, meaning that body-colored bumpers and wheel arches, along with contrasting front and rear under-runs, are now part of the package.
