Default Toyota to unveil Hybrid X Concept in Geneva

repost??...

* Two new hybrid concepts: Hybrid X and FT-HS
* Auris Show Car
* Avensis upgrade for more refinement

Toyota’s commitment to a comprehensive vision of sustainable mobility will be on display at this year’s Geneva Motor Show with the debut of two hybrid concepts that demonstrate the wide range of personal transport solutions this technology can provide.

Toyota is using the show to restate its commitment to finding and implementing solutions that make cars less of an environmental burden. Toyota’s world-leading Hybrid Synergy Drive® technology is at the core of this strategy as it moves along the path towards the ultimate eco-car.

Geneva Motor Show 2007 will mark the world premiere of Hybrid X – a concept car that proposes a new design language for hybrid models while also acting as a technology showcase for future hybrid cars.

The FT-HS is supposed to have over 400hp & it's supposed to do 0-60 in 4 seconds according to previous PR, that's not fast ?

Will it come to the states?
I LOVED the IS-F and all the hoopla surrounding it.
I think it's even more amazing that they limited the market to only 1000 of the IS-F's.

Everything else that has 'go' just seem like dreams unlike the rest of the hybrid stuff that they actually make.

I would love Toyota to say "Hey, here is the concept, get ready to buy it at the end of this year." Other companies have done it with great success to.

Fast, yes, but unless it goes into production, it's no faster for us, the consumer, than a car in the junkyard.

It's not "officially" the next Prius, but I assume that it'll be real close if done correctly.

It's like how the LF-S looked very similar to the production LS460...

Toyota really needs to make something affordable for the 3rd world. Here in Mexico, the Yaris doesn't cut it, but if they could make an affordable, small hybrid that would go a long way toward helping it reach in to market segments currently held by VW and Nissan for instance in Mexico.

I think for something "basement bargain" priced (under $10k), a clean diesel would be much more cost-efficient than a hybrid...

You're right. I think the problem down here is pollution and the fact that the diesel sold here is very, very high in sulfur.
