Default New MDX, 4Runner will be missed!

Hey folks,
Just traded in my 2011 4Runner Limited on a 2016 Acura MDX! I had owned 4runners exclusively since 2000 (5 in all). It was time to move up the ladder to something a little more sporty and luxurious. I always loved the truck like looks and feel of the 4Runner, and of course its impeccable reliability and resale.

I bought the MDX SH-AWD with Tech package. The new 9 speed tranny also makes an appearance in it as well. I drove the 2015 and 2016 back to back and felt the 2016 with its taller first few gears and closer spacing felt punchier off the line. There was some other additions and tweaks in 2016 including a weight reduction of about 80 Lbs and a new Sh-AWD rear diff. All in all, I love it so far! Its Graphite grey with Ebony leather.

If Toyota decides to introduce a 6th gen 4R, I may be back in one someday! It will always be a guilty pleasure of mine

Some pics after several coats of Zaino wax this weekend!

Congratulations on the new MDX. Didn't know that Acura already had it on sale.

The main difference, of course, between an MDX and a 4Runner (and this is something that you probably already know) is that the MDX is not as truck-like, nor designed for as hard-core off-roading or trailer-towing as a 4Runner.

Thanks mike! I'm definitely aware. I do some towing but within the limits and rarely more than 20 miles away. The MDX bridges the gap when I can't drive the wife's GS350 or the summer 911 toy

I feel very privileged!

Since, with the nice wax job (and it looks great) , you seem to be committed to keeping it nice, get yourself a bottle of Scratch-Out scratch remover (not the Scratch Out rubbing compound): It is very inexpensive, works quite well, and will help keep the paint looking brand new if you get small surface scratches, stains, discolorations, scuffs, etc..... It is not a wax, and, in fact, will remove wax, but will keep the paint looking as mar-free as possible.

Congrats on the MDX, love the looks on that car I think it's the best looking Acura and one of the best looking luxury midsize SUVs.

Thank you! My 4RUNNER was grey as well. It's a nice dark color without the hassle of a black vehicle.

I'll be down on Wednesday, where do you keep your wax? Ha! I actually do leave Wednesday morning for ft meyers Cape Coral area for several days. Vacation with the wife and friends.

We have an 06 4Runner also grey and it is an excellent vehicle with few issues. I wasn't thrilled with the 2010+ models and love having v8 power. Best of luck with the MDX.

My 2003 and 2006 4Runner both had the V8 as well. Very nice combo, smooth and powerful!
You also have good taste

Very nice!! We had a '13 MDX Advance then got a '14 Limited 4RUNNER. We hated the 4Runner so badly. So we got a Grand Cherokee, that's totaled now. Anyways, MDX's are my favorite. They are just about perfect all around! I really wish Lexus would finally come out with an up to date MDX fighter.

Don't expect a third row but the 2016 RX should be debuted at NY Autoshow

The thought crossed my mind about waiting for the new RX unveiling but I imagine it still will not be as sporty or spacious as the MDX. Lexus tends to keep the RX pretty tame, not a bad thing for its I tended market.

Congrats on the MDX, very fine choice. The biggest update for 2016 was the 9 speed auto and I have read they tuned it for more power/response this time over fuel economy. I am sure it will be a little quicker then the 6 speed auto if that is true.
