It is tough when we plan for our "last new car". When I retired in 2001, I bought my last new car, a Lincoln LS sedan. Since then I've had an Infiniti G35, a RX400h, an ES350, a LS460, a RX350, and in June I will buy my "last new car". I'm not sure what I will get, but probably another Lexus partly for reliability and partly because the dealer here is great. I'm leaning toward a loaded RX450 but I'm having a tough time getting past the exterior styling.

Since you mentioned Jag, why not take a look at the new XE? It is BMW 3 Series-sized, has four doors and has gotten great reviews re: driveability. Or the newly redesigned Jag XF? Both of those cars intrigue me, and Jag reliability is not nearly as bad as it used to be.

I would like the rush of the Hellcat but wouldn't want to step down to the fit/finish after owning a GS. There's a reason you can get 700+ HP so cheap.

The fit/finish of the present Charger is considerably better than that of the last-generaion model. Chrysler took steps to upgrade the interior trim, paint jobs, and overall assembly quality...though it still has a below-average reliability rating from Consumer Reports.

[QUOTE=mmarshall;8952420]Why do you dislike Fords so much? You did not make the reason clear. For one thing, they are a completely different company today than ten years ago.

Ford for the most part doesn't rate very well when put up against its Japanese competitors. Only ford I would ever consider is a new gt350r, but they have been bad for so long it would still be tough for me to pull the trigger. http://www.consumerreports.org/cars/...-reliable-cars
Same story for most American brands

Yes, I finally did put in an order for 2017 Jaguar F-Pace, a 5 passenger SUV, the first one from Jaguar. All it took was a $500 deposit which I can get back if when I see the vehicle and drive it, decide I don't like it. I'm hopeful. I think this is the one. I extended the lease on my 2013 GS until May.

I went for a top of the line F-Pace S, the First Edition. U.S. dealers will only get one, just one, F-Pace First Edition. It will be very exclusive. More exclusive than the custom builds. I'm very excited. The 4GS has been an amazing car for me, but at my age I want to try something different while I still can.

If I like it and buy it (delivery in April-May) it will only cost 70K, but that's loaded to the gills with amazing electronics.

Personally, I think that is a great choice. I like the recent styling and interiors of the modern Jags. Long may it last!
