You're speaking the truth! Because of technology, imho the younger you are, the more you don't want to pay for what you don't use. You want to pay for what you do use, and maybe a small premium when doing so (car share?).

For most of us, we use a car say 30 min. to 4 hours a day. If 4 hours, there are 20 more hours when the car is doing nothing. That's if you have one car. What if you have 4 like my household, only 2 drivers, and you aspire to 5 and 6 and 7 cars, and live in a tiny house? This is material for some reality show lol

But I do know my buddy said he might buy a M2, I can't seem to convince him, and yes, it is money. But he already has 3 cars, lives in CT, and is not married/no kids. He told me in CT, not only is there property tax, but on top of it, the sales tax is higher when a car is > $50k. So it's not just the car, it really adds up all the costs associated with...

i had 2 cars once (plus now-ex's vehicle) but once she became ex i had to sell my second one (mmarshall remembers my miata ). it was bittersweet, but i can truthfully say that every time i get rid of something, while it might sting a bit initially, i feel better.

i've been getting rid of a lot of stuff in recent years. i will never own a ton of cars like you'd like to, but not knocking it for you! i know jay leno drives most if not all his cars, but i don't get having an entire aircraft hanger full of cars. i guess cuz he never had kids those are his kids. i think bill gates and jerry seinfeld also have LOADS of cars too...
if i was so loaded i could hire someone to maintain, clean and prep cars i could drive whenever, that might be different.
