Later during the XF's lifespan, more potent XFR and XFR-S versions will come out and these will eventually be topped by a high-powered 600 bhp V8 model developed by Special Vehicle Operations (SVO).
Oh herro herro. How about we speed up that lifespan

Very nice yet simple interior as expected. Not sure about that exterior as it looks like a poor chop. Most interested in the weight loss by switching to all aluminum like the XE and XJ. Look forward to seeing more of this!

if they make the headlights any more squinty, they are going to disappear alltogether!

hm, that centre stack does not look as expensive as it should be.

few days back, when Jag announced XE's prices and "residuals" which seemed crazy high, I checked used car values on german sites, and XF really does not hold its value well, at all. You could buy new XF for same price of XE, and1yr olds had already very small prices... never has been better time to be used car buyer in Europe right now!

Jaguar's new interior language just isn't doing it for me.

Default All-New 2016 Jaguar XF Teased, Debuts In New York

Jaguar has just dropped the first teaser shots and video of its next generation XF executive sedan prior to its online debut on March 24 followed by its world premiere at the New York Auto Show on April 1.

It's hard to tell much from the bird's eye view of the exterior other than certain details like the sharper creases on the body, the more heavily sculpted hood, and the sloping rear windshield that neatly mergers into a squatter tail.

The interior shot is far more revealing showing the dashboard in full. It has a similar styling theme to the new XE compact saloon with a more premium twist through plusher materials and more upmarket trim and details.

The new XF gets a fully digital instrument panel and a large LCD screen, which unlike most German competitors these days, is incorporated into (and not above) the center console.

Speaking about the second generation XF's styling, Jaguar design boss, Ian Callum, said:

"I believe the all-new XF will be the best looking car in its class. Elegant, handsome and with proportions that imbue a great sense of integrity – the all-new XF will be true to the strong tradition of sporting Jaguar saloons while being completely of its time."

Designed from a clean sheet of paper, the XF sheds its predecessor's Ford underpinnings to become the brand's second model to use the new aluminum-intensive architecture named iQ[Al], which is believed to help the sedan lose up to 100kg (220 pounds).

According to Jaguar, this will help the new XF to "set new business segment benchmarks for weight and efficiency, resulting in class leading fuel economy figures of over 70mpg UK (58.3mpg US or 4l/100km)".

Jaguar didn't share any information on the powertrain lineup, but it’s a given that the 2016 XF will offer the firm's new generation turbocharged four-cylinder Ingenium engines in the entry-level models, and V6 and V8 units in the mid- and top-level trims, including the XFR and XFR-S high-performance editions, the latter with a supercharged V8 with around 600hp.

Finally, Jaguar's Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5-Series challenger will be available with both rear- and all-wheel drive configurations.

Interior layout on par with Mazda/Kia/Genesis

What are they doing? Sure previous XF interior was cheap build quality but at least it looked good.

Default Watch Live Unveiling Of New 2016 Jaguar XF Here

At 3:00 PM EST or 7:00 PM GMT, Jaguar will pull a James Bond-style unveiling on the next-gen XF saloon and you can watch it live in the video stream after the break.

Jaguar is making a big deal out of the presentation stating that the 2016 XF will be revealed in a "spectacular fashion in London" through a high-wire drive over water performed with the help of British stuntman Jim Dowdall who has worked in the James Bond and Indiana Jones franchises.

The carmaker said the stunt will "highlight the lightweight and agile credentials of the new XF".

What we know about the new XF is that it will have a crispier exterior that evolves the well-received design language of the current model with a spiffier interior partially inspired by the XE incorporating all the latest tech features.

It will ride on an elongated version of the XE's iQ[Al] platform that is made from more than 75 percent aluminum, making it more agile and stiffer, yet also lighter, with weight savings of around 50 to 100kg or 110 to 220 pounds over the outgoing car.

Jaguar's new Ingenium four-cylinder diesel and petrol engines will be introduced to the range, joining the 3.0-liter diesel and supercharged gasoline V6 units, with a supercharged V8 to power the performance-orientated XFR and XFR-S.

The British firm's Audi A6 and BMW 5-Series rival will have its public world premiere at the New York Auto Show next week.

Lord. The exterior looks so similar to the current model. I get it- they want the new XJ to debut the new styling direction. I just can't help but think waiting this long will damage the sales potential of the other sedans. The XE and XF just look old and they haven't even hit the streets yet.

I won't mention the interior, as I'm sure its modern/austere looks will be welcomed by some.

*Update 1: We just found two pictures, allegedly showing the 2016 XF, but we've yet to confirm this. From this angle, it looks remarkably similar to the current car.

* Update 2: While Jaguar's live stream doesn't seem to be working, we now have official photos of the new XF
