Default Any Bimmer fans out here?

So, how about them Bavarians? Do any of you also have a BMW?

I'm asking because we at Carista are developing BMW-specific functionality in our Android app: user setting customizations and advanced diagnostics (just like what we already have for Lexus). We need people to test the new version of the app before it's officially released. It will be compatible with most 03/2007 build-date BMWs.

The app will be free to use for the duration of the beta test. You do need a Bluetooth OBD dongle, but a lot of you already have those... or if you don't, I recommend getting one - they're cheap.

Let me know if you're interested and I'll send you details.

We own an E39 and E60. Both were expensive to keep up with and had issues all the time. I don't think I'll ever buy another BMW again.

Well maybe an E63 if the price is right.

Yeah, the E39s are pretty notorious (along with their bigger sibling, the E38). I've had a few myself. But they CAN be lots of fun to drive... when they're not broken

What year is your E60? If it's an 03/2007 or newer build date, would you be willing to try Carista on it? Thanks in advance.
(and also, do you already have the ELM327 Bluetooth device?)

Our E39 was a 528i, wasn't much fun IMO. We should have probably should have went with the 540i instead.

It was a 2005 530i, but we sold it a few years back. It only had 71k on it and was already having electrical problems.

Thanks Broken Motor Wagon

My first BMW was an E36 328is (same engine as your E39 528i) and it was a lot of fun... maybe because it was lighter, and with a manual transmission. Since then I've had lots of Bimmers, including a few M3s, 5-series, 7-series, an old E24 6-series, etc., and yeah, pretty much every single one of them has had issues, but none of them was ever a boring car So I think they're worth the quirks, at least for some models. I own an E46 M3 now and love it. Unfortunately, though, it's too old for Carista, so... I can't test my own app on my own car

Yup, the 528i felt very heavy.

OP, have you posted this on Bimmerfest.com?

Haven't tried there yet because we're not a "forum sponsor" there... so we're not allowed to post commercial posts. I've tried bimmerforums.com because i'm a long-time user there. We do plan to become sponsors of one or both of those sites once we launch support for BMW in the app.
