So even though I have already ordered one as I previously mentioned, I stopped by at one of the other dealers on my way home today that has 2 launch editions coming in a few weeks. Was curious what kind of deal I could get compared to my ordered STi. I walked out quoted at $37,815 on a car MSRPed at $38,190, and that included them installing the performance exhaust when the car arrived.

Fortunately they had a black limited edition on the lot as well so I was able to get in, hear the motor and the stereo system, in this case just the base system, not HK. Omg what a pile of **** that was (the stereo system). I thought the Launch Edition came with the HK system, and they told me no it didn't. This is where I walked out. Tell me what you guys think. Either go with one of their 2 Launch Editions, performance exhaust included, for $37,815 and grab an aftermarket system elsewhere, or go with my ordered STi (see pic below). It would cost me more than 700 to get a nice system in the LE, but what really is LE going to have over regular '15 STi 3-4 years from now as far as value?

Here's the $2500 option 3 BTW:

^^^^^ I know you're in MD but I would get a quote from this guy....they ship anywhere. http://www.iwsti.com/forums/sti-pric...er-thread.html

he quoted me $32,740 for a base STI (+$389 dealer fee).

Got a quote from him, but you can be better off with your local dealer consider the shipping cost is almost a grand. I know STI has more room for negotiation than WRX because it's not a volume seller like WRX.

LE base stereo system is probably the same as the base STI. To me, I like neutral sounding, so I pumped max bass, mid treble, mid mid, and I find the music is very entertaining, the sound is very clear, and it gets loud. I am not into booming bass, so it is great to me.

What brought me over the LE is the weight saving, and no moonroof. No fancy subwoofer = save weight! no power seats = save weight! no moon roof = more body rigidity! Forged BBS = unique and save weight! it is simply the top aspects of both, the base and the Limited altogether, beside you get limited 1000 units, short throw shifter, bushing, blue accent, alcantara seats.

If you can buy an LE with SPT on it for less than msrp, you should get it, the exhaust and labor alone is going to cost 1000+ from the dealer.

I don't care about after market stereo either, those installers just want the job done, and make money, I have had so many experiences where they broke a screw, and didn't even bother to fix, the wired the speakers all messed up, they drilled it badly that it rattle on loud volumes...etc. The only time I find it justifiable to go after market is installing by yourself. But to me, it is not worth it. I rather open my windows, enjoy the breeze, and hear my exhaust note.

I only enjoy music in my house

I regret I didn't get SPT exhaust port installed. I just have to wait for Nvidia or Cobb to get their hand on the new WRX.
About sound system, Just wrap each door and roof with Raammat, and get a decent Headunit and speakers, you will have a much better system than $2000 option. If I were to get an STI, it would be LE as well because the value is just so much better than other trim. Yes, I would install everything myself, I'm a DIYer.

Edit:I want to listen to the sound of my exhaust too, but road noise is LOUD compare to a Lexus. Sound dampening material is needed for me.

Feel like the road noise is only under the car, I hear you can reduce it by coating it the coat that reduce rust and dirt.

I hate that the nav is bundled with the HK system. The nav unit that Subaru is using has graphics out of the early 00's...

yep $2500

I'd skip it and go aftermarket for much better quality.

So thinking about it again and maybe the LE is a better option for me. I haven't seen the Subaru nav system, but have heard it's not very good. I still have my old Garmin which is still my favorite GPS unit I have ever used. I guess I could get a system put in aftermarket instead, for much less than $2500. Most of the time i'm listening to Raw Comedy (XM or Pandora), but I do like a nice system to blast my music when I want.

Like you said, getting an LE with SPT for less than MSRP is a pretty damn good deal. Going to do some heavy thinking, may go back to the dealer this weekend to put a deposit on the LE.
