The all-new 2016 Volt improves upon its predecessor in every way. We kept everything that our first generation Volt owners loved and listened to what they wanted.

Well, guys, instead of yakking back and forth, how about actually SHOWING us the dash, interior, and exterior. All this is a bunch of PR stuff....and camera-angles that show us virtually nothing.

(I'm referring to the two guys and the camera crew in the video, not you, Motor.....thanks for posting).

The New Chevy Volt First Look: Less Concept, More Sedan
http://gizmodo.com/2016-chevy-volt-f...dan-1677450547
Instead of waiting for the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next week to finally unveil what the new Chevy Volt looks like, General Motors pulled back the curtain on its new electric hybrid at CES just now. No details, no other specifics, just our first full look at the vehicle.

The original Volt was the first hybrid that was an electric car first and foremost. The gas engine the Volt carried as a backup was only intended to be used to generate electricity to charge the car's batteries once they died. The Volt was an important vehicle for General Motors that the company had spent years developing and teasing, and while the final production version didn't look quite like the original Volt concept that originally got us all excited, it still looked far more futuristic than your average family sedan.

But now that the original Volt's technology has been in use for a few years, it's not quite as novel or futuristic as it originally seemed. So for the next-generation Volt it looks like Chevrolet has created an electric hybrid that will appeal more to the average consumer, not the bleeding edge early adopter—at least in looks. The company didn't reveal any additional details about the new Volt at CES, so we'll have to wait until the NAIAS next week to learn about everything under the hood.

Default 2016 Chevrolet Volt Gets Early Reveal at CES 2015

Although the world debut of the 2016 Chevrolet Volt is scheduled for January 12 at the Detroit Auto Show, GM has offered journalists a quick look at the next-generation model during a media event at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Sunday.

The car was showcased completely uncovered for 30 seconds on stage, enough for those present to take photos. Chevrolet tweeted a photo of the new Volt taken from the event, as did a number of media outlets specialized in gadgets, and you can see the photos below the article. The design of the 2016 Volt isn’t exactly a surprise, as GM teased the model’s front end at an event in November.

However, this is the first time we get to see the entire car undisguised and I have to say I was expecting something more exciting. In my view, it’s somewhat less attractive than the current model, which isn’t exactly a looker either. It’s certainly less bold than what our artist Josh Byrnes imagined back in August.

No technical details were offered about the new Volt, but we already know that it will use a bigger 1.5-liter range-extender gasoline engine as well as a new lithium ion battery pack with revised cell chemistry which increases storage capacity by 20 percent despite being 30 pounds (13 kg) lighter than the current model’s battery.

The reengineered and re-packaged two-motor drive unit is said to operate 5 to 12 percent more efficiently than the current system and weighs 100 pounds (45 kg) less. Expect more details, including the improved driving range, as we get closer to the car’s debut in Detroit.

Meh, from the front bumper back it looks too much like 2G and 3G Prius IMO.

I thought the orig Volt looked unique without looking weird.

Look at that LOW rear roofline. I guess it is meant only for small children in the back seat; no adults allowed.

Front is pure Civic. Not sure what direction GM is going for here. Perhaps more mainstream, though the original Volt had it's own futuristic/funky styling to set it apart as something different or special.

Perhaps GM is banking on.. "well honey it looks like a *insert efficient Japanese nameplate here*, and the chevy dealer is closer"

From early sketches to wind tunnel testing, one thing is clear: the Next Gen Volt was built to excite. With its purposeful lines, a powerful aesthetic and dynamic stance, no detail has been overlooked.

We invited some of our most loyal Volt owners in the Los Angeles area to get a special preview of the all-new 2016 Volt before anyone else. This is what they had to say.

The all-new 2016 Volt drives 50 miles on pure electricity and has a range of more than 400 miles on a full charge and tank of gas. On average, our owners can expect to drive more than 1,000 miles between fill-ups at the gas station.

For the Next Gen Volt, engineers looked at real owner data to build upon the success of the first generation. The result? A lighter battery, increased efficiency, a 50 mile range on pure electricity and a ride that puts you at the center of it all.

In 2010, the Chevrolet Volt revolutionized the electric car. Since then, owners have driven over 600,000,000 EV miles, saved 32,000,000 gallons of gas and averaged over 900 miles between fill-ups. And now we're ready to do it again. The electric evolution continues with the #NextGenVolt.

The Next Gen Volt is designed with state-of-the-art safety technologies, to deliver an uncompromised driving experience. That means you'll drive with peace of mind when you get behind the wheel, thanks to features like Lane Departure Warning, OnStar, and more.
