Default 2014 BMW X5 recalled over faulty child-safety locks

Manufacturer: BMW of North America, LLC
SUMMARY:
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain model year 2014 X5 SAV vehicles manufactured December 12, 2013, through March 10, 2014, and equipped with the Soft Close Automatic (SCA) option. The rear side door lock mechanisms may not have been manufactured to correct tolerances and when the inside door handle is pulled, the previously engaged child safety lock can disengage.
CONSEQUENCE:
A disengaged child safety lock would allow the rear seat occupant to pull the door handle twice and open the door while the vehicle is parked or in motion, increasing the risk of injury.
REMEDY:
BMW will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the rear side door locks and any affected door locks will be replaced, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in May 2014. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
NOTES:
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Default 100,000 Jeep Cherokee models subject to further 9-speed recalibration

It seems that the software problems with the nine-speed automatic gearbox in the Jeep Cherokee continue to mount. The programming already caused multiple development delays and even postponed the Cherokee's market launch by roughly two months. Now, Jeep has issued another recalibration to hopefully assuage unhappy drivers.

According to Automotive News, this reflash for the allegedly jerky transmission covers over 100,000 Cherokees built before May 5, but it's not technically a recall. If owners are having problems and complain to the dealer, they get the new software. Otherwise, they continue with the current version. New vehicles on dealer lots also receive the latest revision to the programming. It takes only around five minutes to install, but technicians need to take the Cherokee on a test drive to adapt the gearbox to the changes.

The Cherokee's transmission software has been problematic practically since the beginning. The Jeep plant in Toledo, OH, briefly idled its second-shift workers last year to take care of the issue. Since the launch issues for the crossover, demand has been strong. Jeep added another 1,000 temporary workers to the Toledo factory to keep up, and sales were on par with the Wrangler in just its first two months.

The ZF nine-speed is also found in the Chrysler 200, but it isn't affected by this recalibration. According to Chrysler spokesperson Kathy Graham about the upgrade, the 200 "already has it."

Default Ford announces four recalls, 1.4M vehicles affected

Ford is taking a bit of the spotlight away from General Motors, announcing a major group of recall campaigns, covering a total of 1.4 million vehicles built between 2006 and 2013.

Let's start with the big one, which covers the Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner and, according to The Detroit News, Ford-built Mazda Tribute CUVs. 915,216 vehicles are covered, all of which were built in model years 2008 to 2011. 736,000 vehicles are in the US, while Canada then Mexico make up the vast majority of the remainder. The problem is due to an issue with the torque sensor in the steering column, which could lead to sudden power steering failure. Manual steering would still be available, though.

"Dealers will perform one of three service fixes, depending upon what diagnostic codes are shown when the vehicle is taken to the dealer," Ford spokeswoman Kelli Felker wrote to Autoblog in an email. "They will either update software for the power steering control module and the instrument cluster module; replace the torque sensor; or replace the steering column, which includes upgraded power steering control module software."

The most recent generation of the Ford Explorer is suffering from a similar malady, thanks to an intermittent electrical connection (we think that means short circuit) in the steering column. Like the Escape and Mariner, manual steering would still be available in the event of a power failure. Ford will recall 195,527 examples of its Explorer, 177,500 of which are in the US. This recall covers model years 2011 to 2013. According to Automotive News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has stated that Ford will inform owners of affected vehicles by July 25.

Ford is also recalling 200,000 Taurus sedans, over a corrosion issue in the license plate lamp. This particular recall, which covers vehicles from model years 2010 to 2014, is limited to drivers in northern climes. Vehicle owners in southern states are free to pass on the recall.

Finally, 82,576 Fusion, Mercury Milan and Lincoln Zephyr/MKZ sedans from 2006 to 2011 are being recalled because of floormats that can interfere with the accelerator pedal. Dealers will replace the offensive floormats with newer examples.

"Ford is committed to providing our customers with top quality vehicles. We are equally committed to addressing potential issues and responding quickly for our customers," Felker wrote.

As of publication time, there isn't an official press release official or bulletin on either Ford's media page or the NHTSA website.

Default Airbag fault on 1M recalled Jeeps getting second look from NHTSA

Summary:
On November 7th, 2012 Chrysler issued safety recall 12V-527 to address the possibility of an inadvertent air bag deployment (IABD) on MY02-03 Liberty vehicles built through 03/28/03 and MY02-04 Grand Cherokee vehicles built through 5/23/03. The recall was in response to the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) investigation EA12-001 during which data provided by Chrysler indicates that the air bag squib filter circuitry inside the Occupant Restraint Control (ORC) module can degrade. ORC degradation can result in an inadvertent air bag deployment, without a crash or impact, while the vehicle is being operated on the roadway. An IABD may result in injuries consisting of burns, cuts and bruises to the upper body region. Some owners have informed NHTSA that the air bag warning light (ABL) and/or chime activated just seconds prior to the IABD, while others informed that no ABL illumination occurred.

The remedy Chrysler developed consists of installing an in-line jumper harness with an integrated electrical filter for the circuits that connect to the air bag modules (squib circuits). This filter is intended to eliminate transient electrical spikes to the ORC which Chrysler believes are responsible for the IABDs. In discussions with ODI, Chrysler reported it is aware of 6 vehicles that have had an IABD after the recall was conducted; in each case the remedy filter had been installed in the vehicle. No crashes were reported however injuries consisting of cuts and burns were alleged.

A recall query has been opened to investigate the effectiveness of the remedy for recall 12V-527.

Default GM issues 4 new recalls for 90k vehicles, Chevy, Buick, GMC affected

GM Announces Four Recalls

DETROIT – General Motors today announced three safety recalls and one non-compliance recall, all of which were reported to the NHTSA on Thursday, June 5, 2014.

In all cases, customers will receive letters from GM letting them know when they can bring their vehicles into a dealership, where all repairs will be performed free of charge and courtesy transportation would be provided as needed.

GM is recalling:

57,512 model year 2014 Chevrolet Silverado LD, 2014 GMC Sierra LD and model year 2015 Silverado HD, Tahoe and Suburban and 2015 GMC Sierra HD and Yukon and Yukon XL models because the base radio may not work, preventing audible warnings if the key is in the ignition when the driver's door is opened. Nor would there be an audible chime if a front seat belt is not buckled. If they had this condition, the trucks would be out of compliance with motor vehicle safety standards covering theft protection, rollaway protection and occupant crash protection. Dealers will reprogram the radio control module free of charge. GM is unaware of any crashes or injuries related to this condition.

31,520 model year 2012 Buick Verano and Chevrolet Camaro, Cruze and Sonic compact cars for a defect in which the shorting bar inside the dual stage driver's air bag may occasionally contact the air bag terminals. If contact occurs, the air bag warning light will illuminate. If the car and terminals are contacting each other in a crash, the air bag will not deploy. Dealers will replace the steering wheel air bag coil, which will eliminate contact any between the shorting bar and the air bag terminals. Repairs will be performed free of charge. GM is aware of one crash with an injury where the relevant diagnostic trouble code was found at the time the vehicle was repaired. The company is aware of other crashes where air bags did not deploy but it is not known if they were related to this condition. GM conducted two previous recalls for this condition involving 7,116 of these vehicles with no confirmed crashes in which this issue was involved.

61 model year 2013-2014 Chevrolet Spark and 2013 model year Buick Encores manufactured in Changwon, Korea from Dec. 30, 2012 through May 8, 2013 because the vehicles may have a condition in which the front passenger airbag end cap could separate from the airbag inflator. In a crash, this may prevent the passenger airbag from deploying properly. GM is unaware of any crashes or injuries related to this condition

33 model year 2014 Chevrolet Corvettes in the U.S. because an internal short-circuit in the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) could disable frontal air bags, safety belt pretensioners and the Automatic Occupancy Sensing module. GM dealers will replace the SDM on the affected vehicles. GM is unaware of any crashes or injuries related to the condition.

Default Chrysler recalling 31k SUVs and vans

Statement: Cruise-Control Software Update

June 5, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Chrysler Group is recalling an estimated 10,700 SUVs – most of which were in dealer hands or in transit to dealers – to upgrade software that governs their cruise-control systems.

A routine internal quality audit discovered that, when cruise-control is engaged, an acceleration initiated by the driver may be extended by about one second after the accelerator pedal is released. Vehicle speed then returns to the desired setting.

In high-performance vehicles subject to the recall, the event may last up to two seconds before deceleration begins. But in all cases, brake application will cancel cruise-control.

Note: Brake function is never compromised and Chrysler Group is unaware of any related injuries, accidents, complaints or reported incidents.

Affected are certain 2014 Dodge Durangos and Jeep Cherokees, Grand Cherokees and high-performance Grand Cherokee SRTs assembled between January 16 and April 17 of this year. An estimated 6,100 were in the U.S., 950 were Canada, 425 were in Mexico and 3,200 were outside the NAFTA region.

More than half were in dealer hands or in transit to dealers as Chrysler Group was investigating.

Customers will be contacted when they may schedule service, expected to be available soon. All related costs will be borne by Chrysler Group.

In the interim, customers who are concerned may choose not to activate their cruise-control systems. Other features, such as Forward Collision Warning, are unaffected because they function independently.

Customers with additional questions may call Chrysler Group's Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-853-1403.

Statement: Electrical Component Protection

June 5, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Chrysler Group is recalling an estimated 21,000 full-size vans – most of which were in dealer hands or in transit to dealers – to inspect and replace, if necessary, various electrical components that support propulsion, airbag deployment and/or external lighting.

Warranty data identified a small number of cases in which blown fuses were linked to moisture exposure. In each case, moisture that was brought into the vehicle via wet footwear or other means had seeped into an in-cabin compartment that houses its battery and other components.

Chrysler Group is unaware of any related injuries or accidents. There are no issues with the vehicle's imperviousness to rain, snow or ice.

The electrical components will be inspected for signs of corrosion. Moisture-resistant sealant will be applied to all components, whether replaced or not.

Affected are 2014 Ram ProMaster full-size vans. An estimated 17,700 are in the U.S., 2,400 are in Canada and 900 are in Mexico. Most were in dealer hands or in transit to dealers as Chrysler Group was investigating.

Affected customers will be advised when they may schedule service. All related costs will be borne by Chrysler Group.

Customers who are concerned may call Chrysler Group's Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-853-1403.

Default Toyota expands airbag recall to 2.27M vehicles worldwide

Toyota Renotifies Owners of Certain Previously Recalled Vehicles

June 11, 2014
TORRANCE, Calif., June 11, 2014 – Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. today announced that it will renotify owners of certain vehicles involved in an April 2013 safety recall for the front passenger airbag inflators installed in several models. Toyota is modifying the remedy procedure.

The 2013 recall remedy involved inspection of the front passenger air bag, and if equipped with an affected inflator, the inflator would be replaced with a newly manufactured one at no charge to the owner.

Toyota has determined that the involved serial numbers provided by the supplier were incomplete, and did not include all of the potentially involved inflators.

For vehicles which were inspected and did not receive a replacement inflator, Toyota will re-notify the owners and replace the inflator with a new one.

For vehicles which have not received the 2013 recall remedy previously, Toyota is changing the remedy from "inspect and replace the inflator if it is involved" to "replace the inflator with a new one.".

The involved vehicles were equipped with front passenger airbag inflators which could have been assembled with improperly manufactured propellant. Improperly manufactured propellant could cause the inflator to rupture and the front passenger airbag to deploy abnormally in the event of a crash.

Approximately 766,300 vehicles in the US were covered by the 2013 recall, including vehicles that were previously inspected and already received a replacement inflator. This recall involves certain Model Year 2003-2004 Toyota Corolla, Corolla Matrix, and Tundra; certain Model Year 2002-2004 Sequoia; and certain Model Year 2002-2004 Lexus SC 430 coupes.

Owners of vehicles subject to this safety recall will receive an owner notification letter by first class mail.

Detailed information is available to customers at www.toyota.com/recall, the Toyota Customer Experience at 1 800-331-4331, www.lexus.com/recall and Lexus Customer Satisfaction (1 800-255-3987).

related to above...

In a widening safety problem at one of the world’s largest auto suppliers, 2.3 million Toyota vehicles are being recalled worldwide because a defective air bag component made by Takata Corporation could injure passengers.
And the problem could grow worse as more automakers are forced to recall millions of other vehicles.
Soon after Toyota’s announcement, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it was opening an investigation into the other automakers that used parts made by Takata to see if those companies’ vehicles should be recalled, too.
Wednesday’s recall, which includes 766,000 vehicles in the United States, is the second time Toyota has had to recall the vehicles because a defective inflator for the passenger-side air bag could crack, possibly sending metal fragments into the compartment or causing “thermal damage” to the instrument panel.
The first recall for the problem came in April 2013, when Toyota said that 170,000 cars in the United States had the defective component, but that all of the vehicles needed to be inspected to find the faulty ones. Over all, about 3.3 million vehicles worldwide were involved in that recall, including about 1.7 million Toyotas, 1.1 million Hondas, 480,000 Nissans and 20,000 Mazdas.
But Takata failed to keep adequate quality-control records, making it difficult to identify vehicles with potentially defective air bags. Toyota will now replace the part in all of them. It said it was not aware of any injuries or deaths associated with the defect.
Takata has informed other automakers of possible defects in their air bags, which were made over a decade ago at a plant in Mexico, but the decision on whether to recall the vehicles is up to those automakers, a company spokesman, Toyohiro Hishikawa, said by telephone early Thursday in Tokyo.
Wednesday’s recall is only the latest in a string of troubles for Takata.
In 1996, seven Japanese automakers, together with General Motors and Chrysler, recalled 8.8 million vehicles in the United States because of concerns that Takata-made buckles could jam or fail to latch. That recall was then the largest in American automotive history.
American regulators said at the time that at least 90 injuries but no deaths had been linked to the belts. Japanese government and industry officials initially argued that American drivers might be having trouble with their seatbelts because they kept their vehicles too dirty. Takata, though, eventually settled numerous lawsuits over the issue.
Takata’s recall woes did not stop its plans to expand overseas. Unlike many of its peers, Takata, which is based in Tokyo, is not affiliated with any of Japan’s automakers, which has allowed it to pursue contracts with a wide range of manufacturers.
But that has also meant that when its products are found to be defective, the recalls can span numerous automakers.
Its tactics in gaining market share have also come under scrutiny.
In October 2013, Takata agreed to pay a $71.3 million fine to settle antitrust allegations brought against it by the United States Justice Department. About a month earlier, a Takata official in the United States agreed to serve 14 months in prison and pay a $20,000 fine on a felony price-fixing charge that involved seatbelts sold to Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan and Subaru.
The vehicles affected by Wednesday’s recall are the 2003-4 Toyota Corolla, Matrix and Tundra, the 2002-4 Sequoia sport utility vehicle and the 2002-4 Lexus SC 430 luxury coupe.
Millions of other vehicles may also be affected. Honda is investigating the “potential implications” to its vehicles, Chris Martin, a spokesman for the automaker, wrote in an email. Nissan also said it was investigating the issue. A Mazda spokesman could not immediately be reached for comment.

Default Five automakers now being investigated by NHTSA for airbag woes

It appears that Toyota's renotification to owners of recalled vehicles from last year is just the tip of the iceberg for what could potentially be a much larger industry-wide recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening a preliminary evaluation investigation into roughly 1.1 million vehicles from Chrysler, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Toyota and parts supplier Takata regarding faulty airbag inflators in several models.

NHTSA has received six reports – three directly, two from Takata and one from Toyota – of vehicles with ruptured airbag inflators from 2002-2006, which resulted in three injuries. So far, all six incidents have occurred in high humidity areas like Florida and Puerto Rico. According to Toyota's latest recall announcement, the inflators may have an improper propellant that could cause it to rupture in a crash and the bag to deploy abnormally.

This new investigation follows a previous recall from April 2013 of about 3.4 million vehicles worldwide for the airbag inflators from Takata. As Autoblog reported, Toyota jumpstarted the new situation when it found that the original list of serial numbers for the faulty part was incomplete and discovered more cars in need of replacement. Honda and Nissan told us that they were investigating whether further models would need called in again as well. Mazda told Autoblog: "Regarding the current Takata situation, we're working closely with NHTSA and investigating the situation, but nothing else to report at this time." Chrysler Group responded to us with the statement: "Chrysler Group engineers are conducting the appropriate analysis. The Company will cooperate fully with the National Highway Traffic Administration."

According to The Detroit News, the previous Takata inflator recall possibly stemmed from a manufacturing defect at the company's Washington state factory. The parts also could have been exposed to moisture at its facility in Mexico.

At this time, NHTSA's investigation is still in the early stages. It's still determining from the automakers and supplier how widespread the problem is and what models are involved

Default GM recalls 500K Chevy Camaros for ignition-switch defect

GM Proactively Announces Four New Recalls

DETROIT – General Motors will recall all current generation Chevrolet Camaros because a driver's knee can bump the key FOB and cause the key to inadvertently move out of the "run" position, with a corresponding reduction or loss of power.

The issue, which may primarily affect drivers sitting close to the steering column, was discovered by GM during internal testing following the ignition switch recall earlier this year.

"Discovering and acting on this issue quickly is an example of the new norm for product safety at GM," said Jeff Boyer, vice president of GM Global Safety.

The Camaro ignition system meets all GM engineering specifications and is unrelated to the ignition system used in Chevrolet Cobalts and other small cars included in the ignition switch recall.

GM is aware of three crashes that resulted in four minor injuries that it believes may be attributed to this condition.

The company will change the Camaro key to a standard design from one in which the key is concealed in the FOB and is opened by pushing a button. The change will make the ignition key and FOB independent of each other, so that inadvertent contact with the FOB won't move the key from the "run" position. There are 464,712 Camaros from the 2010-2014 model years in the U.S. included in the recall. Including Canada, Mexico and exports, the total recall population is 511,528.

Separately, GM also announced two safety recalls and one non-compliance recall involving a total of 65,121 cars in the U.S. all three of which were reported to the NHTSA on Wednesday, June 11, 2014. Including Canada, Mexico and exports, the total recall population is 69,839.

In all cases, customers will receive letters from GM letting them know when they can bring their vehicles into a dealership, where the recall repairs will be performed free of charge and courtesy transportation would be provided as needed.

The recalls:

28,789 Saab 9-3 convertibles from the 2004-2011 model years for an automatic tensioning system cable in the driver's side front seat belt retractor that could break. If the cable were to break, seat belt webbing spooled out by the driver would not retract. The convertibles and sedans were investigated at the same time, but the convertible parts were not identical to the sedan parts. GM has since learned of customer complaints to the NHTSA for the convertibles. Dealers will replace the driver's side retractor in the recalled vehicles. In addition, GM has issued a special coverage, so that if the same repair is required to the passenger side retractor it will be covered for the life of the vehicle. GM also extended the special coverage for passenger side belt retractors on the 2004 Saab 9-3 sedan from the original 10-year coverage to the life of the vehicle, like the convertibles. GM is unaware of any crashes, injuries or fatalities due to this condition.

21,567 Chevrolet Sonic 2012 model year compacts equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission and a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine for a condition in which the transmission turbine shaft may fracture as a result of a supplier quality issue. If this were to occur in first or second gear, the vehicle could not upshift into third through sixth gears. If the turbine shift fractured while in one of the higher gears, the vehicle would coast until it was moving slow enough to downshift into first or second gear. In both instances, a malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate. If driven in this condition for a long period of time, all forward gears may become inoperable. The engine would continue to run and all power accessories would function. Dealers will replace the transmission turbine shaft. GM is unaware of any crashes, injuries or fatalities related to this condition.

14,765 model year 2014 Buick LaCrosse sedans because a wiring splice in the driver's door may corrode and break. That may communicate incorrect information to circuits that control the door chime and allow passenger windows, rear windows and the sunroof to function when the vehicle is turned off and the driver is not in the vehicle. In addition, a chime will not sound when the driver's door is opened if the key is in the ignition.

Dealers will inspect the driver door window motor harness and, if necessary, replace an electrical splice. GM is unaware of any thefts, crashes, injuries or fatalities related to this condition.

SUMMARY:
Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2002-2004 Toyota Sequoia and Lexus SC and 2003-2004 Toyota Corolla, Corolla Matrix, Tundra, and Pontiac Vibe vehicles to address a safety defect in the passenger side frontal air bag inflator which may produce excessive internal pressure causing the inflator to rupture upon deployment of the air bag. This recall addresses both the passenger side frontal air bags that were originally installed in the vehicles, as well as replacement air bags that may have been installed as replacement service parts. A replacement air bag may have been installed, as one example, if a vehicle had been in a crash necessitating the replacement of the passenger side frontal air bag.

CONSEQUENCE:
In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking and potentially seriously injuring the passenger seat occupant or other occupants.

REMEDY:
Toyota will notify owners of affected Toyota and Lexus vehicles and General Motors will notify owners of affected Pontiac Vibe vehicles. Toyota, Lexus, and GM dealers will replace the passenger side air bag inflator, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Pontiac Vibe owners may contact GM at 1-800-521-7300. IMPORTANT NOTE: This recall supersedes recall 13V-133 in which some vehicles were inspected and received a replacement inflator, while others were inspected but did not have their inflator replaced. All owners of vehicles that did not get an inflator replacement, or owners that do not know if they got an inflator replacement, should contact their Toyota or Lexus dealer.

NOTES:
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Default Honda may recall up to 1M vehicles for airbag issue, following Toyota's lead

It seems Toyota won't be the only one recalling the faulty Takata airbag inflators for long. Honda insiders in Japan claim that the company is getting close to announcing its own worldwide campaign that would begin before the end of June.

Unnamed sources close to Honda in Japan tell Automotive News that the company is pursuing an internal investigation into possibly affected models and is working with Takata to gather more information. They claim that it could involve even more than the 1.14 million cars worldwide that the automaker covered under the first recall for the problem in April 2013, including 561,000 vehicles in the US.

Toyota jumpstarted this process last week when it recalled over 2 million cars worldwide, including 844,277 in the US. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began a preliminary evaluation into the issue following six reported incidents, and started assembling data about potentially affected models from Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Chrysler. NHTSA also began investigating Takata itself.

The safety hazard comes into play because it's possible that the inflators contain an improper propellant that could cause it to burst in an accident. Not only does this affect airbag deployment, in some cases the shrapnel hits occupants too. So far, all six reported incidents to NHTSA have occurred in high humidity areas like Florida and Puerto Rico.

Default NHTSA investigating Chrysler for airbags, ignition switches

Chrysler is being targeted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in a pair of actions that focus on over 1.2 million Jeeps, minivans and crossovers.

The first is a "preliminary investigation" that focuses on an airbag issue afflicting the Jeep Commander built in model years 2006 and 2007 and Grand Cherokee from 2005 to 2006. In total, 700,000 vehicles could potentially be affected. It's not entirely clear what the airbag issue is, with The Detroit Free Press simply stating that the restraint systems in the affected Jeeps may be "faulty."

The other investigation is what's called a "recall query" and it covers a problem that General Motors should be familiar with. In this case, there could be a problem with the ignition switches of 525,000 vehicles, ranging from 2008 to 2010 Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans, to the 2008 to 2010 Dodge Journey crossover. Again, it's not entirely clear what sort of behavior prompted the 32 complaints that NHTSA has received on these vehicles.

"Chrysler Group is awaiting additional information from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Company has begun its own investigation and is prepared to cooperate fully with the agency," Chrysler told Autoblog in a short, emailed statement.
