Over the years and as technology debuts and evolves, some become so integral to safety that they become standard and mandated. What tech out threre do you believe should be on your next vehicle sans ticking a box?
Like ABS, Trac/Stability Control and Seatbelts, for me Blind Spot Monitor/Assist/Detection whatever you want to call if should be standard. Some are now adding Cross Traffic Alert as well.

What say you?

And that matters why?
This is an opinion(s) thread
With the alarming amount of idiots on the road that don't turn their head, use turn signals or common sense for that matter, BSM is a great technology that can help curb accidents

Not really related to safety but I think cars that turn off all lights after 20 minutes should be standard to save battery.
I'm pretty sure auto brakes for under 25mph will become standard soon

I think the following should be standard:
Advanced lighting such as HID / LED headlights and LED tail lights.
Backup camera
Bluetooth for audio streaming / making calls.

Your from California where the roads are awesome. Big wide roads.
Here in Sydney the roads are designed for bicycles. When your in the highway you're literally centimetres away from a truck in the lane next to you. And drivers here are extremely violent.
It's all just a very frustrating mess!

Idiots that refuse to check their blind spots won't pay attention to the BSM signals either, unfortunately. These people should just be beaten into comas instead.
Big fan of bluetooth now with my new car. I use it a lot, especially since you can't have your phone to your ear in Nevada.

I agree making many of the above mentioned features standard will add to overall safety. Technology is great in many ways, but I also see it as harmful (in more than just cars btw) . I can't help but believe BEFORE all of these advancements driver's were more aware and cautious of their surroundings/other driver's? Add in the smartphone (texting) and man...I am guilty too. We need a driver phone depository in every car! Phones only accessible when the car is off!

Our roads are bigger sure, but we have pretty terrible roads in terms of upkeep and just way too many people on the road.

its so easy to blame the next guy
I've been to Australia thrice. Rented a Commodore or Falcon each time. It was much tighter in Sydney than Perth iirc.

That is a great point. Unfortunately people these days seem less and less able to accept personal responsibility

even if you put a tiny one in the mirror or one for a multimedia display would work
Backup camera
Cross traffic alert
Blind spot camera
Front and rear parking sensors
Bluetooth
Technology to stop drivers entering or reading texts on their phone while the vehicle is in motion

What I'd like to see standard unrealistically now, but by 2025 on all cars:
Backup Cam with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Pedestrian Detection
Forward Cam with Night Vision/Motion+Infra Red detection
BSM
LKA
AFS
Parking sensors with active brake control
Radar Cruise Control/Distance Control
HUD with Night Vision display and safety system alerts
Forward Collision Mitigation System (pedestrian + vehicle detection)
VDIM
Side, curtain, and seat belt airbags
