I really like the look of both the new S-Class and now this CL as well. My neighbor here at the office just got a new, white S550 and it is a handsome rig. I would much prefer the new Benz over a current 7-series, Bentley GT, Panamera (I had a 2012 Panamera S as a company car for a year), Quattroporte, or even the LS460 (which, to be honest, is relatively old and not playing in the same sand box as the new S).
On the other hand, I'm in different age group than many CLers - some of you forget, Mercedes has not targeted this car at twenty~somethings - that's not who traditionally buys this car.
Can't wait to see it lowered on some classy 21" or 22" wheels.
Glad Mercedes has righted the ship when it come to styling, I really thought they lost the plot when they redesigned the SL. But the new C class, S Class and redesigned E Class look really nice to me.

You're welcome! Yes, they likely will start development this year and initial design sketches next year, if not delayed. The W222 S-Class began development in 2006 for a scheduled autumn 2012 launch, being pushed back to July 2013. Similar happened previously with the W140, which originally due in late 1989, was delayed in 1987 and later released in mid-1991. Its W220 successor commenced development in 1992 for a late 1998 market launch.
S-Coupe/CL development portion has usually begun 25% through general S-Class development programs, which is why it's usually launched a bit after the saloon/limousine.

I'm not digging this retro garbage dashboard and upholstery Mercedes is trying to establish. It's not so bad they are using it, but most other makes get their styling from Mercedes and Audi. So we are going to see it all over coming up.
Note the 70's Buick Skylark dash and 60's and 90's Kenworth interior.
That quilted leather trim is the designo option. You don't have to get it, but its there for those who want it. I find it a little fussy, but nothing wrong with options. There are 2 or three other seat stitching styles available.

+1 Seriously, there are many examples of diamond stitched leather out there, to choose the worst possible examples of it and associating it with an optional S Class interior trim style is really a stretch.
And seriously I wouldn't hesitate to say that the Accord has better build quality and is put together better.
You are dead wrong on it being put together well. I own a lower end Mercedes, and a Euro Accord in my TSX, and I can guarantee you that the Honda does not come close to matching the build quality of even my plebian Benz, let alone the S Class. There is a substantial difference in hardware quality, panel gaps, etc. The only area where I would say the Acura is better at is the Navigation and probably reliability (but since both cars have had zero issues, I have no personal data to back this up)
