imo, no other models out there beats Honda Accord Sport with 6 speed manual for $22k while getting 30 combined mpg.

It's easy to see why Toyota brass would be concerned. There's more to success than just sales volume.

Yes, it is called profit. Sales volume is really not important in grand scheme of things. What is important is operating profit and return on investment.

And Toyota is cashing in with their 2013 profits above their record high 2007. It is literally the most profitable year for any manufacturer in history.

With Camry being their 2nd best seller, yes, it is doing good for T.

Of course, they should improve it, it is 3yr old now... Personally I dont know what car would i aspire to buy in competitive segment when it is "oldest". New competition always has better design, interior, feature comforts. I would have never purchased 2012 IS when F30 came out, or 2012 GS when F10 was out or any other car when it is oldest car in segment.

Profit is important, but profit is a byproduct of sales volume and market share. As a businessman I promise you Toyota cares about sales volume and declining market share. If those continue to decline, so will profit.

not sure what you mean... mainstream cars aren't going to be exotic / wild in form. they're designed to be practical, aerodynamic, refined and efficient, without being completey boring. it's a tough challenge to be sure.

but again, what exactly do you want here?

The Camry is the least of their problems. The new Avalon & Corolla lack that sense of coherence. It just really seems like Toyota is making too much compromise.

They uses to design the best looking cars. Even the previous GEN Camry was good looking. Akio comes along and their entire style has changed for the worse.

Yes, you can see some Avalon styling in the front bumper. That would be a good direction to head. As it stands now, the Camry and Avalon look like they are from two different parent companies- with the Avalon taking a solid position of style and character.

Problems??? You're going to have to explain how it is that the Camry is somehow a problem for Toyota, especially since it has been the best selling sedan in America for years. Let's face it, cost cutting is business. It will not change any time soon. Costs will continue to be cut further and further from all manufacturers. How they implement those cuts is what sets them apart from their competition.

This is a matter of taste. I think the new Avalon and Corolla are the best looking things that have come out of Toyota in years. They aren' boring, hey have a sense of styling that isn't just an afterthought.

If you think the previous generation Camry was good looking? We have different senses of style.

Getting rid of the present hideous taillights is a great improvement.
