Default Acuras new threat

I have owned both Lexus and Acura, both great cars in their own right. I did however give the edge to Lexus with design over the past few years, but Acura has stepped up the game.

300hp V6 and AWD. sign me up

AWD??? You mean FWD with some power going to the rear when needed? Thats a sorry excuse for a sports sedan. No thank you. Acura please stop building cars using a wrong wheel drive setup!!

Dont hate on Honda/Acura, they actually have a REALLY good AWD system. My sister has the TL SH AWD and it its noticeably nicer in weathered conditions while still having all the power there. Front wheels as their main drive instead of the rear wheels as the main drive was honestly better in the snow than my IS. I loved driving the car but hated the styling. It looks like a spaceship

Yes it is better in snow because its based off a FWD system. I never said otherwise. Better in snow and worse as a sports sedan!! I am not a hater. I love Acura Suvs and my girlfriend has a Honda Pilot (i bought). FWD sports sedans not so much.

Looks almost like a 2IS with a more aggressive front and stance. The window trim even goes up next to C-pillar.

Does look good though.

Is that the new TL? Looks nice but I think it could look nicer if they just change that nose! I'd like to see the interior since really 3IS interior is so much better than anything out there IMO!

This is the new TLX (replaces the TL and the TSX).

We traded in our 2008 GS 350 AWD for a 2012 Acura TL SH AWD and after a year I couldn't wait to get back in a GS
The Acura was nice and about 10k less than the GS. Not a bad car but no where near the fit finish and ride of the GS.
I think the Acura was priced right where it should be a good value for that caliber of car, but no where near a Lexus

If you can get that car for say $42000 loaded I say it's a no brainer. The new lexus IS is not as good as pervious generations if you ask me.

I may be going out on a limb here....you must be a 2is owner ? If so there is no validity in your opinion.

The 3 cars I drove were Acura TL, Audi A4 and Lexus IS(Current)

I always felt that Acura could have been a legitimate threat to the 'lower segment' of Tier 1 Main Stream Luxury in America(Bmw/MB/Audi/ Lexus)

In fact the 3G TL was not only a threat but almost overthrew BMW 3 in that 'entry level Luxury/Sport Sedan segment'

This could do big things for Acura. Their SUVS are already on par(if not better) than Lexus/BMW/Audi...........

If you look at the 'segment' competition of the TLX.. you see:
Audi A4
Volvo S60
Lexus IS
Bmw 3
AtS
Infiniti Q

I see this car doing very very well against it's segment competition.

Acura needed this. They should have never ever lose to Infiniti.. but Infiniti have the stronger brand atm. Acura's amazing SUV'S keep their sales above Infiniti's but Acura should rightfully have crushed Infiniti as a brand overall.

Like I said.. this could do big things for the Acura brand.. They already got the RDX/MDX Segments on lock, the TLX could very well dominate the A4/3 SERIES/IS/Q Segment.

I have test driven a 3is 2 different times, and my ex had one that we drove in a lot. it is very nice, just doesn't seem as smooth and quiet as my 2is. How much more validity do you need brother???

That and I have had an Acura TSX for the last 4 years, I traded in the IS a while ago. I did this because the IS was too small on the interior and the seats were brutally uncomfortable. The Acura has a bigger interior with far better seats. I am 6'2" 215 lbs. so room is important.

It takes more than 300 hp, AWD, and a disguised body-colored shield grille to be a threat.

Oh god that face. And bugeyes. I have owned a lot of Hondas and still do but there is absolutely no Honda/Acura that is remotely interesting. Don't get me wrong. They make nice, bland cars. No more exceptional engineering, fun, exciting, greatness type cars ala NSX, S2000, Prelude, Integra Type R, CRX... I would still choose the 3IS over this. But I may choose the Acura over the 2IS. They seem to be a generation behind the competition instead of leading like in the past.
