so if you can't criticize the product, you criticize the price.

the c-class has gone upscale because they now have the CLA to get 'entry' sales. it's not much different than the 3/4 series now bmw has the 1/2. i expect the bmw interiors next up to get the full upgrade treatment.

If it was as simple as just jacking up the price everyone would do it.

Think Cadillac - It isn't working for them....

Which is the point. In order to stand out you need to step up. MBZ is doing just that, which is why they can command such premiums. For a favorable brand image comparison you either have to match eye to eye or be taller. Mercedes as it stands is in a great position right now. Lexus for what it's worth is coming on strong as we'll see some incredible things within the next 3 years.

To be fair though, most of seem to be up to something, MBZ with new AMG life, luxury, Cadillac and Lexus with new designs, models/upcoming, Jaguar and Maserati expanding to reach a bigger audience with the XE and Ghibli while stretching further upmarket with the F-Type and Alfieri. And BMW and Audi seemingly chugging along with niche models, tech and and future weight reduction palns.

Never been a better time to find and buy a luxury badge

I think you're missing a major point, Mercedes isn't Cadillac. Once brand is much stronger in consumer perception than the other.

Which wasn't always the case, Cadillac was once the 'Standard of the World' in it's earlier days, matching up with the best of Benz, Rolls and Bentley. Of course their dark ages continue to drag down their modern image today but they are working on that stigma as evident from recent vehicles

It looks nice, I just hope it drives nicer. The current C-Class (even with sports package and the 3.5L engine) just doesn't feel that sporty to me

The tlx is 30k with fake leather. The RLX base is 50k with fake leather. Lexus uses nu-luxe. The q50 base is fake leather.

It no longer is just the Germans.

If you really want to talk about fake leather, use the GL: 64K and fake leather. I think its the most expensive car with fake leather as standard

Default Mercedes C63 AMG interior photos leaked

To be powered by a 4.0 V8 engine

New images showing the interior design of the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG have hit the web.

What we see on the photos is a leather flat-bottomed steering wheel, AMG dials with carbon fiber background and a 320 km/h (200 mph) speedometer, sports leather seats and a Burmester audio system.

As previously reported, on the outside the C63 AMG will likely feature an aggressive front fascia with a single bar grille and larger air intakes. The sports vehicle will reportedly be powered by the new 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine taken from the upcoming AMG GT.

Codenamed M178, this unit will develop 510 PS (375 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) in the AMG GT but Mercedes-Benz will probably offer a detuned version in the C63 AMG with around 480 PS (353 kW) in the standard variant and a little bit more in the S-Model.

It is believed both the sedan and the station wagon versions of the C63 AMG will be revealed on September 24 with deliveries programmed to kick off in February and April, respectively.
