Tacky is the word to describe this car, tacky inside & out. But I guess looks are subjective.

Besides the above photos are of the loaded C400. Would love to know at what they retail at..

The current one is built in the states too and its considered one of the better cars. I wouldn't be too concerned regarding quality.

I agree Hoovey. I've seen a couple new S class roaming around already and thought they were the new E each time I see them. Gotta adjust my eyes now

I don't care for the new mb products, but even I wouldn't call it tacky (well, except for that lame stick-on nav screen).

My best guess is that it will beckon a very slight premium over any equivalent 328i and 335i

Personally the Audi's and BMW's are the ones that trick me best, but yes this one sausage different lengths mentality is really evident now in the German line-ups. At least the Lexus line love or hate the spindle is far easier to decipher IS, ES, GS, LS than 3, 5, 7, A4, A6, A8, C, E, S

No current one is not built in the states. They are built either in Germany or South Africa. I made sure my C350 came from Germany

Do you know the VIN# differences?

Point in case Japanese made Lexus start with JTH and Canadian Lexus start with 2T2

Mercedes made it more difficult than Lexus.

You have to look at the 11th letter in the VIN.

F - Bremen
A - Sindelfingen
R - South Africa

You're right for some reason I thought they moved production to Tuscaloosa

The new C-class will be built in Tuscaloosa. The ML/GL are already built there. The A/CLA/GLA are made in Hungary, with the possibility of MB making also them in the plant they will share with Nissan/Infiniti in Mexico.

The R is also made is Tscaloosa. All their SUVs. C class will be first sedan. I wonder if some, even a little, of the C classes will be made in Germany. I need to find a way to get my dealer to order one if there are some bound for the US. Also, it doesn't make sense to me that the destination fee is the same. They need to lower it too

Out of curiosity, why do you care? The quality control issues in the Tuscaloosa plant that occurred over a decade ago have been long since remedied.

Oh, Im sure its all in my head but I just feel better if my german car is made in germany and my japanese car is made in japan. I guess there is a perceived quality advantage. Of course its not necessarily proven or true, its more like a peace of mind.

Also a correction, the R class *was* made in Tuscaloosa. I forgot they no longer sell it here
