I'm predicting Inline 6 from BMW, MKIV's came with Inline 6 maybe they follow that tradition. The new V6TT in the LS would make a good candidate too since Supra will be a much lighter chassis than the LS500.

Either way I hope it's something respectable power wise from factory. I'm satisfied with the power on my MKIV but would love to see new platform come out with something nice.

BMW B58 3L straight-six turbo. If there are multiple versions, I could see a detuned S55 (from the M3/M4) being used in the top-spec model.

Please no 4 cylinder or hybrid.

A BMW inline 6 would not be very reliable, very expensive to fix, and likely not meet Toyota's long term quality/reliability standards unless maybe Toyota takes the basic block and then re engineers the rest to their standards. tt 6 cylinder going in the LS500 could be a possibility. The Supra replacement in the 90's, the 4000GT was supposed to get a 4.0 liter V8, that would be a nice powerplant, a twin turbo small disp V8.

Default Is the Toyota Supra returning with only 335 hp?

A post on the SupraMkV forum reveals a list of BMW internal codes that might help shed light on Toyota’s next Supra. According to the list, the U.S. market will get two different versions of the BMW-developed powertrains: code names DB23 and a DB43 of the Toyota-spec J29 chassis.

The DB23 will be related to the Z5 30i, which likely means a turbocharged I4 under the hood. The DB43 will, of course, be a turbocharged I6 variant based on the BMW Z5 40i. Want to row your own gears? According to this list, you’ll need to track down a vintage Supra -- the models listed here will be automatic only. In Europe, there will be manually shifted versions of the Z4’s replacement, but none of those will bear a Toyota badge.

There isn’t a mention of an all-wheel-drive system or a hybrid driveline in this code sheet, so there's still hope for more powerful and stick-shift versions of the Supra to come later.

There’s still no word on when the Supra will see auto show lights, but we imagine we’ll see something official about the car by the end of next year.

Someone told me yesterday, when it comes to Supras, people don't care if it's had 7 owners and 12 accidents, they don't last at the auction....

When the last Supra Turbo was killed off the replacement rumors pointed to the 4000GT which would have had a V8 pushing out at least 400hp and that was around 1999-2000 and after 17 years this is all they have come up with, a car shared with a lower end BMW with a 4cyl and 335hp 6 cylinder as the top engine. This will be at most a 370Z/6 cylinder Mustang/Camaro competitor, not the 911/Vette killer the last Supra turbo was.

A real Supra replacement should be based off and related to the next Lexus LC with no 4cylinder and much more power and performance hopefully not from a BMW engine.

if BMW decides to let the Supra have the S55 from the M3/4 then it will be a 444hp Twin Turbo I6.

Every spy shot I see makes me more and more disappointed ... Kinda scared on what we're gonna end up getting.

This is going to be the most unreliable Toyota ever

Not necessarily. About 15 or 20 years ago, Toyota was selling rebadged Chevy Cavaliers in Japan as Corolla derivatives.

Not sure of those headlights (reminds me of polaroid camera flash bar/bulbs), but the tail lights are gorgeous!

Just like the Concept Supra's lights.

BMW is not going to let a Toyota model have their M3/M4 engine.
