Great review as always. About all I'm going to comment on is how ridiculous it was VW chose to take up 1/3 of all central guage space with the jumbo fuel guage. What a waste of precious ergonomic space!

On the Beetle,iIt's possible (though I don't know for sure) that that extra area on the dash could be reserved for gauges that are offered in other countries, but not here in the American market. Subaru, for instance, offers coolant-temperature gauges on both turbo and non-turbo models in its home Japanese market, but, for some odd reason, won't include them in most non-turbo U.S.-market vehicles. Here, for the last 5 or 6 years, they have been using blue and red idiot-lights for cold and hot temperature, and use the space instead for a virtually useless analog vaccum/MPG gauge....something that is already programmed into the trip computer's digital display.
