Why Lexus ??!?
Hey guys, just wondering, and im always curious and interested in this, as to why yall picked a Lexus as your car. Not that I have anything against it, im just curious. I run a business, and have studied marketing, and always curious as to what aspect the producer or product had the hook on the consumer. For example, my dad bought a car for the fact it seated the right amount of people and had the right amount of room, and how my truck was bought because it had room for a family of 6 and fit into a small garage. My truck now, bought it off my dad, because it was a truck, had room, handled like a champ, and wasnt to big to compensate, and handled all of my needs well. Just curious on what yall bought and why. What made you love it, buy it, what influenced you, or if it was an impulse??
Good topic for discussion. I personally bought my car off an emotional impulse geared towards attraction. That's not to say I wasn't predisposed to the brand. To start my family and I have always been a Ford Family. In High School, the son of the GM that I now currently work for (irony) rear ended my Mustang. Well the GM didn't want it on insurance so he offered to fix my car and provide a loaner vehicle. He's the GM of an Automall composed of Lexus, Acura, BMW and Mini. So while my car was in the shop he gave my Mom a new RX with 5 miles on the odometer to drive in until my car was reparied. Long story short, she loved the car so much that she bought one and gave the Explorer to me and I gave the Mustang to my sister. When decided I wanted a smaller car I looked at anything RWD. I took the RX in for service one day and while waiting for an oil change saw the 2IS in black. Immediately knew that was the car. Got my finances in order and bought a short while later. Dad had never owned a nice car and a few drives in mine and I was able to get him into a IS350 as well. So experience and word of mouth plays a role too.

but my Dodge built the family and being a mainly empashized domestic mechanic I try and stick and /or influence domestic purchases for people I know. Bu t foreign markets are cool, I find it interesting since rebuilding a 01 Audi A6 and some Hondas and Mazdas, Lexus, and Toyotas. But the girlfriend on the other hand has always loved Lexus since her dad got a 02? GX470 from Texas, and has 300xxx+ miles on it.
I hope I see more responses on this topic. This is very interesting and cool. Keep them coming
Vehicles changed with job/career. Needed a pickup truck first, but will never buy another Ford product again after dealing with their customer service. Job changed need was for minivan, went through several Chevy Astro vans. Job became supervision changed to Nissan Pathfinder. Job became administration and retirement, so more leisure time and loved the electronics and technology of hybrid and remote touch in the RX. Reliable, comfortable and a joy to drive. Although a motorcycle was vehicle of choice for decades.
2GS - just everything about it was great - styling, interior luxury, quality build - still Love that car!
I owned 2002 and 2005 GS300. It was my dream car when it came out in 1998.
My parents have had in the past 2004 LS430, 2008 LS460, 2nd gen RX400h (dont recall the year).
Lexus was the BEST from 90s to mid 2000s then the Germans really stepped up and have not stopped with their assault of products.

When I bought my IS300, I was taken in by several things......the chronograph/Swiss-Watch-type central gauges, the solid highly-poished real-metal chrome ball-shifter, the bright-yellow paint-option offered at the time (which I got), the availability of softer-riding all-season tires (which were dropped on the 2-Gen model), the availability of cloth seats (which I also got), the smoothness/refinement of the 3.0L in-line 6, and, of course, the car's tank-like build quality. Later 2 and 3-Gen models, IMO, overall, in comparison to the original, have been a disappontment, though they did add some features (like AWD) that were missing from the original one, and the later automatic transmissions were less-quirky.

I bought my IS250 AWD based SOLEY on the design and looks of the car.
Being in Alberta, AWD is a must. I was not interested in a ton of power, which is why I opted to get a 250 instead of a 350.
Despite people telling me that the 250 is too slow, I pushed my car to see how fast it can go in a short time, and by my standards it was good enough.
My parents were always looking at lexus since I was around 9 years old. They bought their first lexus (2009 RX350), and before that we were driving Toyotas, which I also loved because of their reliability. I test drove a IS250 a year after and I absolutely fell in love with the car. I waited till I got a career before buying it on my own.
I am looking forward to modding my car. So far, I have gotten a JoeZ Intake Pipe w/ AFE Dry Pro S filter and I also plastidipped my rear emblems black. I plan to get a HKS Hi-Power, but to get it in Alberta is extremely costly (1000$)

Exactly.
I wish Lexus would remind themselves of how they got here........ while it was many things, the 2nd gen GS brought in tons of new buyers to the brand.
If they offered a real GS-F, I wouldn't be looking at Audi's right now........

I bought my Lexus to have one of the best made cars on earth. Its beautiful reliable, and the attention to detail ( including reliability and longevity). The car is superior to any other make I have ever owned ( I only buy japanese cars so far ) and has a great reputation and you can park it next to a benz or BMW and know its just as luxurious and prestigious . Great cars, great price, and stellar customer service
I wanted a car that had it all: exclusivity, power, handling, luxury, relatively cheap maintenance cost, and ultimately reliability. The Lexus ISF fits the bill. If I went with a Dodge Viper I'd be compromising luxury and possibly reliability, if I chose the M3 or C63 I'd clearly be compromising reliability, and the list goes on. So in short, I chose Lexus because of reliability, quality, and luxury. Lexus drivers also doesn't have as bad a reputation on the road as BMW. I have articles to back that claim up
1994 Lexus LS400. Built Lexus tough. Quieter interior than Rolls Royce of the same period. Comfortable and luxurious. Steering rack air conditioner vent. That vehicle was our family car while I was growing up. That vehicle and the Toyota Camry of that period turned us into faithful ToMoCo buyers. We've dabbled in a little Chevy and Audi but hated the ownership experience. Audi was fun to drive but, not fun to own.
I have been a Lexus buyer for the past 12 years. I purchased my first Lexus in 2001, a brand new shiny red SC 430. I really enjoyed the car over the years and it was very reliable and a great car to drive., no real issues for those 12 years. So, I have been buying Lexus every since then. When I decided to sell the SC430, my son and his wife bought the car, because for the price, it was hard to beat, only 26,000 miles. Some of the low mileage SC's on the market now are incredible buys, a lot of car for the money. Sportpop
Test drove about 15 cars in the $18k - $35k range. Really liked the last gen civic, but when i sat in the IS, it was the only car i said "wow". It had all the features on my "must have" list and a bunch of others. It was at the top of my budget, but after emailing back and forth with dealers and gettin ga nice price, it won the battle for my new car
