New York adding 'texting zones" on highways
Calif has the no texting while driving law. I still see many drivers texting and on the phone while driving. When you see a driver looking down you know they are reading their text messages.
Speaking of California, I saw something interesting yesterday on the I-5 in Santa Clarita. Traffic was moving about 40 mph and there was a CHP on the shoulder with some sort of radar gun looking device. Being all traffic flow was well below the speed limit during crowded rush hour, it got me thinking he was looking through some sort of device to possibly detect cell phones. Not sure though, as I havent' heard of a device that looks for cell phones. Maybe they were maginfiers so he could see up close? Couldn't figure it out...

+1 - Texting while driving is also illegal here in GA and I found out that there are these really, super-duper cool "texting zones" called gas stations, parking spaces, rest areas, and shoulders. All of which already exist with no need to spend extra taxpayer money!
