Agreed. RIP. Yes, Lexus did a lot to change the upmarket/premium-car industry.
.....but what did Eiji Toyoda have to do with BMW? Nothing that I know of.
and creating the ultimate driving machine.

I can think of no other vehicle brand that behaves, runs, drives, disassembles, and reassembles like a Toyota or Lexus. The fit, finish, thoughtfulness, workmanship, and continuity is always staring you right in the face. I'm 42, and I remember when my sister found an old Toyota Corona in a garage for sale when I was 14. It was just as solidly built as my GS400 is today, allowing for the technology gap. That car never gave as much as a hiccup for the many years she drove it.
If I were to pick a stock, unmodified car out of all of the standard production cars in the entire world, to win a bet for the most miles driven before maintenance was necessary or before the end of life of the vehicle, I would pick a Toyota or Lexus.
I started a car audio project on my GS400 today, and I never cussed once. Every screw, clip, piece and component came out just a smoothly as the engineers designed them to, and they will reassemble the same way. Every Toyota or Lexus I have worked on has reflected a quality build and thoughtfulness for the end user and the mechanic.
Mr. Eiji Toyoda lived a long time. He ate good fish, good salts, oils, fats, and other food from the sea and the ground that had never been genetically modified or tampered with. Thus, he lived a hundred years and five days, looking healthy all the way to his death. He focused on quality and did not take shortcuts. His attitude is reflected in every single Toyota and Lexus that has rolled off the assembly line.
Thank you, Mr. Toyoda, for ensuring to the safety of millions of people that have driven your vehicles through storms, rough neighborhoods, muddy roads, long highways, and dark alleys. Your commitment to making a solid and dependable vehicle has literally saved the lives of thousands of people worldwide who otherwise would have been stranded, frozen, stuck, lost, injured in a crash or otherwise.
I just wish I could have met this man and shaken his hand and told him THANK YOU.
God bless you Mr. Eiji Toyoda.
