Red face Acura RLX, not recommended by Consumer Reports

As if this vehicle couldn't get any worse news/reviews, it was tested by Consumer Reports and scored a 74, too low to be recommended. To make things worse they felt competition 10k less is just as good/better.

Easy to find better value in large sedans that cost $10,000 to $15,000 less

Viable alternatives:
Chevrolet Impala
Hyundai Genesis
Chrysler 300
Lexus ES
Toyota Avalon

The RLX, on the other hand, has a more spacious, nicely crafted interior and a smooth, fuel-efficient powertrain. But that’s where the good news ends. The RLX’s ride comfort falls short for a car in this class. It suffers from slow steering response, with little feedback, and ungainly handling that robs the car of a sporty driving experience. Both cars suffer from complicated control systems.
Overall, neither car scored as highly in our tests as their better peers, trailing models from Audi, BMW, Infiniti, Lexus, and Mercedes-Benz in our Ratings. There are also better values at a lower price. The redesigned Chevrolet Impala, for example, is a more well-rounded and pleasing package overall.

I really wanted to like the RLX, but it's difficult and not getting better.

Poor Acura. They must go back to their old formula- affordable "luxury" and mainstream styling.

Lexus of Marin has a used one already, FWIW. I think it's a good looking car.

"a Honda Civic rides better"

You could see how unsettled and bouncy it looks in the video they posted! Wow. Take a look at the Jag XF video and it seemed to handle that same stretch of their ride test pavement just fine!

Either way, CR has no credibility

It's sad that the RLX was pooped on, but it's equally sad they recommended the impala as an alternative.

LOL the sadness at Acura continues. It's just way past the point of simply being sad and funny; it's downright pathetic at this point. The ONLY thing keeping Acura still alive is Honda's extremely stubborn and arrogant viewpoint.

Lol, not surprised. An unsettled, bouncy ride, typical Honda. Still quite sad it continues, but I have no sympathy or interest in Honda.

Consumer Reports is usually very highly regarded since they don't have advertisers, they buy the cars. So you have no credibility.

The Impala seems to be getting rave reviews all over.

If the RL was cheaper and it was a flop, why would I want to spend more for a FWD variant. I mean for $48,000 I could have a GS or a 5 series.

I had no idea the RLX's base MSRP started at $48k.

The RLX As Tested Price in the CR article was $55.3k. The Jaguar XF (AWD) tested with it was $59.6k.
