Default 2006 Civic: 900,000+ miles! ( engine #2)

Now that's a lot of freaking driving. Guy is a medical supply courier and does like 650 miles every day!

It has all been documented since '08 in a huge thread on 8thcivic.com forum linked below.

Credit where credit is due. Outside of Toyota, only Honda could pull this off and still be in good running shape.

Depends on which Ford/Chevy. Even less chance for Nissan. And a definite no for Huyondie - most of their engines are based on old mitsu crap.

I believe there's a Volvo P1 running around with 1 or 3 million miles. I'd have to google, but too late right now

Definitely impressive, even though I hate Hondas. You are correct, outside of Toyota only Honda and a few older engines from Volvo and Mercedes can make it this far (when referring to consumer vehicles).

Commercial vehicles are a different story, as there are certain commercial engines that have made it to extremely high mileages.

LOL. No. Hi DJ, you should stick to criticizing Lexus designs, with your graphics background you know nothing about detailed engine reliability.

I've known people who've witnessed or heard about Ford and Hyundai engines going boom even with perfect maintenance.

Engine #2?

Miles/engine is the only meaningful number to me. 450000 miles/engine is still extremely impressive. The 900,000 figure is a little deceptive.

nah, different guy...the owner of the Yaris still has his, doesn't do much road travel to put on much miles anymore. funny thing about the Yaris is it was modded, I/H/E, lowered, wheels, lip kit and what not, and was still grabbing close to 50 mpg's if not more at times

As baddis es said, no, but it's the same type of job. The Civic guy delivers medical supplies. The Yaris guy, who has over 500,000 on his, delivered medical specimen. He quit doing it a couple of years ago. Otherwise, he'd be well past 750,000 by now.

True that the 2nd engine gives this a bit of an asterisk next to it. That's why I put it in the title, to take any deception out of it.

Ford Crown Vics are built solid as a rock, but far less efficient of course.

I've seen a fare share of high mileage engines on cars that will never be posted on a forum, one of them being a Hyundai/Kia minivan that was 2 years old with 300k on it and going strong and prior to that the guy owned Nissan minivans that went up to 800k plus before he junked them.

After living in the south for 4 years Im more impressed with the high mileage cars rack up with little to no maintenance, and go to any random used car lot in the south and see a good looking Domestic pickup with a $5000 price tag on the window, that truck probably has 250k+ on it

NYC crown vic taxi cabs probably hit 100k in a year in some of the worst mileage you can put on an engine
