Default Rebuilt my Stang

Thought I'd share my week as a Ford Engine tech. Decided to rebuild the top end of the Stang so I dove in and the pictures tell the story.

Runs much better now and really fun to drive. I wouldn't give up my trucks for it, but it's a fun toy.

Had the heads completely reman'd, new water pump, new thermostat, full chassis tune up, and basically went through the whole car and freshened up everything. It's like new.

Parts piled around it LOL.

BACK TOGETHER!

First test fire. Burning oily fingerprints off the exhaust. That was yesterday. Drove it 100 miles today and it's smooth as butter.

Some people have all the tools. Some people have all the tools and the talent to use them. Great job .

I wish I was one of the latter.

sounds great. I remember driving one of those back in the day ( convertible) and it pulled like a train. It blew my mind since all I had were 4 cylinder Hondas back in the day. That torque was intoxicating and the sound was amazing

Thanks for the comments Here's the first test run after that initial start - up. It's a fun toy.

I was really happy to find one in such good shape when I went looking to buy one. This top end rebuild was preventative maintenance and readiness for a blower.

Couldn't get any traction leaving. LOL.

I was going to be a total hater and tell you to swap out that 215hp boat anchor until I read that comment. What sort of power are you looking at with the supercharger? 400rwhp or so??? I know that's what the 03-04 Cobra boys are getting with just a couple of minor mods.

That's beautiful. I was gonna tell you that you forgot the FI, but it looks like you've got it planned.

The blower is for my own entertainment, otherwise there is no use whatsoever for it or any FI for that matter and no need to change the motor for any reason. It sounds good, can't hold it's traction as it is, and nowhere can you go over 70 mph so there's no use in bothering. The Mustang is one of those cars that due to horse and cart suspension design is already more than enough power from the GT up. If you can't keep the tires planted and can't go over 70 more power isn't going to change your day to day life. They are known for their low end torque and in that respect it's already got the driving sensation covered. That's the whole point of a toy is to have fun. People add more power to asian cars because they are BORING.

It's a blast. I wouldn't want to drive it every day, but I like it when I am in the mood. My F150 has spolied me, it rides and drives very well.
