use a room fogger, the non-oily type. I moved some of my wife's grandfather's stuff after he died and had roaches in a car for a while.
I used this one...left the car sealed overnight and presto! no more roaches...just be sure to make sure the dome lights are off and do not come during the fogging and after the fogging - air it out for a few mins before starting/driving http://www.homedepot.com/p/Raid-Fumi...8#.Ub8BRecp8nY
Not sure how common this are in Singapore OP, but normally they are attracted to food leftovers, etc. Are you leaving your windows down in infested areas or is there something in your vehicle they want?
You think roaches are bad? I once lived in a rural part of San Diego replete with avocado groves. Rats love avocados and set up shop anywhere they like.....
One day I was cleaning the trunk of my vehicle and noticed shredded material near a "well" to the left of the spare tire compartment. Upon lifting the trunk liner I was greeted with a scurry and the sight of a nest with 4 or 5 "pink" newborn rats. I recall a large rodent fleeing for safety. I placed the babies deep beneath a bush; they may have simply died or became bird/snake food.
Similarly, I've had rodents gnaw hood insulation on various vehicles, but the worst incident was about $500 damage to electronic modules and wiring harnesses of an Audi.

Luckily I don't have that problem in the part of SD where I'm from!
This happened to my dad a few weeks ago with his old Avalon he parks outside(has 250k on it, runs great BTW). They have two other cars, so this thing sometimes sits for a few days between being driven. Keep in mind there are a bunch of oak trees in their yard and the neighborhood, so its squirel central.
He leaves one morning to go to work at 6:00am, starts the car and said it sounded like the engine threw a rod or something catostraphic. Immediatley shuts her down, opens the hood. Damn squirrel took a ride on the serpentine belt, I'm not even going to describe the horror show in that engine bay. Didn't damage anything but it now sports a new serpentine belt lol.

That was in Vista, in the vicinity of East Vista Way and Gopher Canyon Rd. Also had rodent issues while living in the Hidden Meadows area of Escondido. Currently live in Oceanside near the municipal airport. Much better, but they're around.....
