IIRC there was a magazine road test that had that happen to them...but in a SL63 I believe. I do have to laugh at BNR34's surprise at buying a ~$200k car and having a problem like this. Don't own an exotic! Or even a RR for that matter.
Sure highend and exotic cars in general have more issues due to their complexity, but they don't stall in the middle of the road, certainly not now a days. If they do, we would hear about it like we do now with the S63.
Also with the new Benz, looks like not only the exotic S63 is stalling, E-Class and the bargain basement CLA is also stalling. So not much to do with being exotic here.
Try to answer that question again if you are ever sitting on the side of the freeway fearing for your life with your angry wife and kids in a gridlock, you are blocking traffic and the tow truck can't get to you for like 4 hours during intense summer heat
I am in no way wishing that on you since I know you do own a 15' S63, I hope your car perform flawlessly for you.
Have not had a problem yet. The only problem with the S550 is the tire pressure warning light keeps coming on, but that probably is due to after market wheels.

No, you really wouldn't because of the low volume and the type of owner. I can say this from experience. Also the vast majority people are unaware of this MB stalling issue (as evidenced by this thread) because it doesn't affect every vehicle. I suppose you didn't hear the similar stalling problems BMW was having back in 2012 with the F30. Of course, turning off eco stop/start will help you steer clear of this issue altogether if your car is having issues.

One thing is for sure, I'd much rather be "fearing for my life" in the comfort of those plush seats rather than the ones in decade old LS430. Regardless, in the vast majority of these cases the car started right back up.

i guess this is the same logic used by cigarette smokers, or women wearing extra high heels. Probably more of the latter.
$200k and totally pissed off vs. free and flawless performance. My choice is clear The only thing I don't have is fancy LED headlights.
hehe i think you miss a few more things than just some facy LEDs
but yes i agree with the poor part, me too.

If they burn, it's covered by insurance, but this stalling problem, mercedes don't even know what the problem is, never mind the ability to fix it, and they refuse to give you a new one even if it happened a few times, that's discouraging ...

if the car stalls and get rear ended you are still covered
see i am not trying to discount the fact that this is quite a serious problem. i am not happy about it at all. but i do like to pick on BNR34 whenever i can, coz' i am still bitter that he drove the 458 haha
