Default 2013 Indy 500 Pace Car revealed.....

Just the Facts:
The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will serve as the Indianapolis 500 Pace Car, marking a record 12th time that the Corvette has had that honor.

The Corvette Stingray Pace Car will feature a Laguna Blue Tintcoat with official Indianapolis 500 graphics on the doors.

The Corvette Stingray Pace Car differs from production models with only track-mandated safety features and strobe lights.

INDIANAPOLIS — The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will serve as the Indianapolis 500 Pace Car, marking a record 12th time that the Corvette has had that honor.

The Corvette Stingray Pace Car will feature a Laguna Blue Tintcoat with official Indianapolis 500 graphics on the doors.

The Corvette Stingray Pace Car differs from production models with only track-mandated safety features and strobe lights, said General Motors. It also is equipped with the Z51 package. GM says the pace car required no powertrain upgrades.

"It is an honor to help inaugurate the Corvette Stingray at the hallowed Brickyard and further the legacy between Chevrolet and the Indianapolis 500," said Jim Campbell, GM vice president of performance vehicles and motorsports. "The 2014 Corvette Stingray's performance was influenced by racing, making this prestigious assignment even more fitting."

The Corvette Stingray hogged the spotlight at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. It goes on sale this fall with a convertible version coming a few months later.

The Indy 500 is set for May 26.

Edmunds says: A natural choice for the all-American race.

The rear shot isn't a flattering picture! The black looks like it comes up way too high, as does the car's ride height.

Find something else. Corvette pace cars at Indy, IMO, are getting a little long in the tooth.

do they have the 'annoying zig-zag shifter and lack the body side molding'?

Those mouldings won't do much good if one of the the cars in the front row loses it on initial green-flag acceleration and slides (or spins) right into you.

(I've actually seen that happen at Indy)

BTW, now that you mention it, I don't ever remember seeing a production 'Vette with a zig-zag shifter. Most of the type of people who would buy a 'Vette won't put up with that kind of nonsense.
