they are assembled in the same assembly line as the 200 Series Cruisers and LX 570s. One comes out of the factory and then you could have an LX 570 right behind it!

I have been in one of these trucks and it has one of the best AC systems i experienced in any vehicle i have been in! Same goes for the other LC/LX models.
The only thing relatively new about these trucks is the engine, the rest is old school tech. This formula works and its super reliable and tough.
They are still manufactured and sold around the world ( very popular in some parts of the world ) The 70 series Land Cruiser range debuted in 1984 and has received slight changes through the years.

I'm sure they'd have to do all kinds of crash testing and emsissions bs to sell them here, thus jacking up the price beyond reasonable. I was thinking they wouldn't be able to keep them on the lots if they sold for about 20-35k(price of a 4wd Tacoma)
I honestly don't think many people would buy these in the US. You will have the LC offroading crowd who would surely be interested.. maybe a few other people. No place for trucks as utilitarian as this in the US. Its a work truck through and through. 3 star crash rating btw.

To be honest..its a wonder Toyota still sells the Land Cruiser in the US. In Canada they don't even sell the LC, only the LX!!

But, if I were in the market for a large SUV, I would go Sequoia Platinum, more features, better ride, more modern and easier to live with. And I would consider the Tundra Platinum, by far the toughest Toyota ever made and the rear end is an absolute monster in size.
Land Cruiser is to small and not enough space, and the solid rear is a obsolete.

Toyota still sells it because it goes hand in hand with the line up of Sequoia/LC/LX570, it allows Toyota to cover a wide range of price points.

I wouldn't buy the Tundra or Sequoia due to the horrible dashboard layout. Honestly the radio is closer to the passenger seat than the driver's. It looks bad, feels cheaply made, and is an ergonomic nightmare. The dash in that "ancient" 70 series land cruiser has a way nicer layout IMO.
The Tundra was made for work. Period. Everything about the Tundra is beefier than on the Land Cruiser, yet the Land Cruiser is nice, but the brakes, frame, rear axle and even the grille is beefier on the Tundra.

I remember reading a few articles at the time of the 200 series LC/LX release, stating that the LC has a stronger frame than the Tundra, by around 20 %.
''The current 200 series debuted as a 2008 model. It's based on a shortened and strengthened Tundra platform''. They are similar, but even if the LC doesn't have the huge 10.5 diff on the Tundra ( LC 9.5 ) The frame on the 200 is stronger and its fully boxed.

Also, are you sure Sequoia really ride better than the Land Cruiser/LX570? I can't comment on the Sequoia's ride! Never driven one. The 200 series Land Cruiser / LX 570 have some of the best ride quality i have seen on any large 4WD off road. On the Road they ride pretty well too!
I also read Toyota has done some cost cutting on the frames of the Sequoia and the Tundra, that they haven't done on the LC, which is way way better built! I sat in both. ( never been in a moving Tundra or Sequoia though )

If you look under the LC 200 and any other toyota 4wd, you will notice the 200 series has more protection below, most areas are covered up + tucked from harms way. It also has a fully boxed frame from unlike the Tundra.

If I am hauling pulling out tree stumps or hauling through mud in low range, I could care less where the radio is located.
