Default Dubai Police Supercar Thread

Dubai police welcome Lamborghini Aventador cop car

There is a long history of law enforcement adding supercars to their police cruiser fleets. The latest comes from a likely place, Dubai, where one-upping the rest of the world in conspicuous consumption has become a national point of pride.

The Dubai police force announced yesterday that they've added a Lamborghini Aventador to their fleet, the Italian supercar capping a broader upgrade to their selection of cruisers that also reportedly includes new examples of the Chevy Camaro.

The 700-horsepower Aventador has a starting price in the US of nearly $400,000 and can reach speeds up to 217 miles per hour. Reports, however, say that the Dubai police force won't be using the car's 0-60 performance of 3.9 seconds to catch any crooks, but rather that the supercar will be used in tourist areas to impress foreign travelers.

The announcement of the car's arrival was made via the police force's Twitter account with a tweet that read "Latest #Dubai_Police patrols, now at your service," and was accompanied by an image of the new law-enforcement-liveried Aventador driving outside the Dubai Mall, which happens to be the world's biggest shopping center.

Dubai certainly isn't the first to add a supercar to its cruiser fleet, nor is it even the first to choose a Lamborghini. The most famous Lamborghini cop car is perhaps the Gallardo LP560-4 used by the Italian State Police. The blue-and-white bringer of justice was even immortalized with its own official Lego set.

Default Dubai police add Ferrari FF to keep Lambo company

Dubai police add Ferrari FF to keep Lambo company

Supercars are a sulky lot by nature. Leave them to their own devices and they'll quickly grow despondent. That's why so many owners have more than one exotic in the stable. The Dubai Police seem to have caught on to that fact, having just added a Ferrari FF to help keep the force's new Lamborghini Aventador company. The duo will patrol the city's more affluent regions to promote the area's image as a mecca for money.

Mission: accomplished.

Of course, the Dubai PD certainly isn't the first law enforcement agency to adopt flashy cruisers, and car gods willing, it won't be the last. There was the Nissan GT-R gussied up for police duty, as well as the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 and the Mitsubishi Evo X, but we have to say the DPD certainly has the most lust-worthy stable at the moment.

Default Dubai police add Aston Martin One-77 plus Bentley and SLS AMG to exotic fleet

Dubai police add Aston Martin One-77 plus Bentley and SLS AMG to exotic fleet

GulfNews.com reports the Dubai Police will add even more exotic cars to its fleet of law enforcement vehicles. As you may recall, the city's police department already has a Ferrari FF and a Lamborghini Aventador. Now it looks as if officers will be able to patrol the streets in an Aston Martin One-77 Q-Series and a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. An undefined Bentley will also join the the fleet in the near future. Right now, the One-77 is on display at the Arabian Travel Market for tourists to enjoy. So, why does a police department need a one-of-seven ultra exotic like the $3 million One-77 Q-Series?

While speaking with GulfNews.com, Dubai Police Chief Lt Gen Dahi Khalfan Al Tamim said that the public's reaction and enthusiasm for the force's Aventador convinced him to add other exotics to the stable. The cars will be used for "road security." "These sports cars will not be roaring and chasing speeding motorists," he said.

Default Of course, Dubai Police add Bugatti Veyron to fleet

Of course, Dubai Police add Bugatti Veyron to fleet

Well, now it's official: Nobody in Dubai is going to be able to outrun the police. You see, in addition to the Aston Martin One-77, Ferrari FF and Lamborghini Aventador that were already part of its stable of police cars, the constabulary in Dubai have most recently procured a Bugatti Veyron to add to the force. And, since the Veyron is the fastest production vehicle in the world, it'd take something truly special to evade the long arm of the law.

The image you see above was tweeted by Dubai's Chief of Police, and as you can see, it's painted up in the green and white hues we've come to expect from its ilk. We do have to wonder, though, if they drilled holes in the Bugatti's roof for the light bar or if it's held on by suction cups or something else less likely to damage the delicate carbon fiber bodywork...

BRABUS B63S - 700 WIDESTAR in Police livery celebrates its world premiere at the Dubai International Motor Show 2013
Dubai Police brings the successful TUNE IT! SAFE! concept to the UAE

TUNE IT! SAFE! has been promoting safe, responsible tuning in Germany since 2005. To date the concept behind the initiative has been a genuine success story. Conducted under the aegis of the German Ministry for Transport, Construction and Urban Development and sponsored by the Association of Automobile Tuners and numerous partners from industry, as well as other organisations and institutions TUNE IT! SAFE! aims to promote greater awareness of safety among tuners and to provide important educational advice. The Dubai Police is now to bring this successful concept to the UAE. The launch will take place at the Dubai International Motor Show, to be held from 5 to 9 November 2013 in the Dubai World Trade Center.

In Dubai too, the central element of the TUNE IT! SAFE! initiative is a legally and safely tuned police vehicle. Tuning company BRABUS is to provide the Dubai Police with a B63S - 700 WIDESTAR based on the Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG for this purpose. This high-performance power off-roader with 515 kW / 700 hp symbolises the fact that safe automobile tuning and driving pleasure are closely linked and need to be mutually exclusive. This initiative is welcomed by the forces of law and order, which is why the Dubai Police will also use the BRABUS upgraded G-Class from Mercedes-Benz to do duty on the streets of the city.

Dubai Police provides an important educational service with the police vehicle

The legally and safely tuned vehicle will enable the Dubai police to provide some important public information on the streets of the city. As in Germany, where TUNE IT! SAFE! has established itself as an information platform for all things relating to tuning, sporty automobile accessories and general traffic safety, the initiative aims to raise awareness in Dubai, so that safety is not forgotten when it comes to automobile tuning.

BRABUS B63S - 700 WIDESTAR with powerful V8 biturbo engine

In the BRABUS B63S - 700 WIDESTAR, the Dubai Police is taking delivery of a high-performance power off-roader with a 515 kW / 700 hp 5,5 litre V8 biturbo engine. This enables the all-wheel drive police vehicle to reach a top speed of 240 km/h, sprinting to 100 km in just 4.9 seconds. In visual terms, the TUNE IT! SAFE!-campaign vehicle attracts attention for the exciting WIDESTAR wide version and its 23 inch BRABUS "Platinum Edition" monoblock forged wheels. The BRABUS Dynamic Ride Control suspension offers the perfect symbiosis of superior driving comfort and dynamic handling.

Website and Magazine present TUNE IT! SAFE! and its partners

The TUNE IT! SAFE! police vehicle will makes its international debut at the Dubai International Motor Show, from 5 to 9 November 2013. Here the Dubai Police, sponsor BRABUS and the Association of Automobile Tuners will also present the TUNE IT! SAFE! initiative. Visitors to exhibition stand CC2-1 at the Dubai World Trade Center will find out all about safe and responsible tuning. More information about TUNE IT! SAFE! and its partners can be found in an informative magazine with exclusive tuning highlights and posters and the website at www.tune-it-safe.ae.

I have been to Dubai numerous times and i never see these patrolling the streets.
The ones i see in Dubai are Land Cruiser Prado's, Xterra's and Bmw 5 series.
I guess they take them out in the tourist filled areas.
