Default Ford & Petty’s Garage announce a $92,210 Mustang

First car was ordered by AC/DC’s Brian Johnson

Ford and Petty's Garage have announced plans to team up to build a limited edition Mustang inspired by the Petty’s Garage Mustang GT that debuted at SEMA last year.

The production model will be based on the Mustang GT and the Stage 1 variant will feature modified bumpers, a rear spoiler and 20-inch HRE FlowForm wheels with Continental tires. The car will also have embroidered head restraints, custom floor mats and Richard Petty’s signature on the dashboard.

Under the hood, the 5.0-liter V8 engine will be equipped with a Ford Racing/Roush supercharger, a cold air intake, an optimized ECU and a MagnaFlow exhaust system. Thanks to these modifications, the engine produces 627 bhp (467 kW).

The Stage 2 variant goes one step further as it boasts a two-tone exterior, Wilwood brakes and three-piece forged-aluminum wheels.

The Stage 1 version will be limited to 100 units and pricing starts at $62,210. Likewise, only 43 Stage 2 variants will be built and they will retail for $92,210.

Galpin-Fisker Designed Carbon Fiber “Rocket” Is a 725 HP 2015 Mustang

That’s right, Galpin Auto Sports and Fisker have been talking about The Rocket before it was revealed. They knew what they were talking about when they called it the ultimate muscle car. It’s a carbon fiber 2015 Mustang which boasts 725 horsepower and has had the exterior reworked by Fisker with a bit of inspiration from the 1968 Shelby GT500.

The engine is powered by a Whipple Supercharger just like the 1966 Chevy Chevelle “Recoil” which we saw Ringbrothers bring to SEMA this year. Yet, it’s a different engine, The Rocket is a 5.0 liter v8 with a 6 speed manual tranny. The end result being a 725 horsepower Rocket.

Many parts of the Mustang have been restyle such as skirts, spoiler, and rear diffuser to help produce more downforce along with the adjustable suspension which is good for a variety of conditions. The 21″ wheels are wrapped in Pirelli P-Zeros and stopped by a set of 15″ Brembo Grand Turismo Brakes.

The roof and doors are the only part of the Rocket which have not been done in carbon-fiber and in the process of creating these panels they slightly widened the rear. They have also included dual air intakes on the hood and a front spliiter which are both said to help cool the monster Whipple supercharged V8 engine.

There have been a lot of new factory edition and tuner mustangs present lately but The Rocket holds it’s own against any.

2015 Ford Mustang Burns to a Crisp, Only 6k Miles
The Ford Mustang isn’t just the most popular automotive nameplate of all time, but a pretty fun-tastic overall package as well. Be it an old school 1966 Ford Mustang 289 cruiser or the 2016 Shelby GT350 Mustang blunderbuss, it’s hard not to enjoy yourself in such a desirable and fulfilling machine.

But that can’t be said about Mustang6G forum member 5ohslow and his brand new 2015 Ford Mustang GT fastback. The poor guy describes his experience with the V8-powered S550 in a forum thread titled “2015 5.0 on Fire Literally” as follows:

“Just picked my car back up from the dealership for some warranty issues. Driving on the freeway and noticed some white smoke coming from the hood. It progressively got worse so I pulled over into the shoulder. Instinctively thought the car was over heating and it was steam from the radiator. So I proceeded to pop the hood as flames burst from the edges of the hood. Here's the outcome. Insurance is going to love me."

"There were no mods to the car. It had 6k miles.”

Look at the three-pic gallery below and ponder what might’ve triggered this Mustang’s case of spontaneous combustion. In the last 6 months, the 2015 model year was recalled for various defects: certain EcoBoost-powered ponies got their gasoline supply tube assembly incorrectly installed, some were recalled over a safety belt issue and some V8-powered ponies were called back for badly installed catalytic converters.

It’s far fetched to think that 5ohslow’s unfortunate happening was the result of incorrectly installed catalytic converters, but does it really matter at the end of the day? After all, the guy is safe and sound and insurance will cover his mess with an all-new 2015 Ford Mustang GT fastback, whether they like it or not. Thing is, in the 6,000 miles the guy drove his Mustang, 5ohslow took his pride and joy in for minor repairs.

The Mustang6G forum member also discloses that his 'Stang had the "heated/cooled seats replaced on both sides" prior to this fiery event. Furthermore, it also had a small hole on a seam weld on the hood. As if that wasn't enough, the windshield cowl also had to be looked at by the dealerhip's service department.

"The car drove fine after I picked it up. Didn't notice anything immediately wrong. Also when I picked it up the ford dealership left the old seat cushions, covers and the boxes the new ones came in, in the car. On warranty replaced parts are those usually given to the customer?“

Default Galpin Auto Sports Unveils First Production Rocket Based On New Mustang

The folks over at Galpin Auto Sports call this the "Ultimate American Muscle Car" and judging by both specs as well as looks, holy cow, they might be right!

The Rocket, co-designed by Galpin and Henrik Fisker, was first unveiled in concept form at the 2014 LA Auto Show, where it pretty much won us over thanks to its overly aggressive looks and 725 HP supercharged V8 unit.

Fisker was quoted back then saying that he was inspired by 60's American muscle cars, specifically the 68 Shelby GT500 and its long hood and huge air intakes.

Luckily, he was able to replicate that dramatic look, and now we have this, the first production Rocket to stare at. Fittingly, it's wearing gloss black and subtle racing stripes so as not to upset the dark theme which follows through to the 21" 10 spoke ADV.1 wheels.

Its carbon fiber body was constructed by GFMI Metalcrafters, while its Cat-Black exhaust system with quad tips comes from Bassani Xhaust. The hexagonal grille at the front does look a little Jaguar-ish but we're not going to take away any points for that.

Meanwhile, other styling changes include the new front bumper, new hood, extended rear wheel arches, bootlid lip spoiler, a new rear bumper and a Gran Turismo brake package from Brembo.

You can have yours in either Black, Ingot Silver, Magnetic, Oxford White, Race Red, Deep Impact Blue or Competition Orange - or basically 7 of the 10 available factory Mustang colors.

Naturally, with all that power, comes stiffer responsibility, and so the Rocket also features a custom suspension setup which you'd definitely need in order to keep this thing in check.

As for straight line performance, no official numbers yet, but there are those who estimate (unofficially) that the Rocket will reach 60 mph (96km/h) in 3.5 seconds, followed by a top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h) - which doesn't sound right to us. It should be a lot faster than that.

Oh and also, it's hard to decide which looks better, the production Rocket or the silver prototype sitting next to it. So let's call it a tie.

Based on the Ford Mustang

Saleen has unveiled the 2015 S302 Black Label Mustang at a special event in Los Angeles.

Billed as the company's "most powerful production Mustang to date," the S302 Black Label has a 5.0-liter V8 engine that has been equipped with a 2.8-liter twin-screw supercharger, high-flow fuel injectors and an optimized ECU. Thanks to these modifications, the engine produces 730 bhp (544 kW) and 600 lb-ft (812 Nm) of torque on 91-octane fuel.

On the styling front, the car has an aerodynamic body kit that includes a new front fascia, a front splitter and a ram air hood. The model also has a revised grille, aerodynamic side skirts and a stylish rear diffuser. Other notable highlights include a rear spoiler and 20-inch alloy wheels that are backed up by a high-performance braking system.

The interior largely carries over but there's leather and Alcantara sport seats, illuminated door sill plates and a revised instrument cluster. The model also has embroidered floor mats and an individually-numbered plaque on the dashboard.

Pricing starts at $73,214 and Saleen is already accepting orders.
