No. The newest version of the pump should have cured the problem.

I had 2 Caddies with the 3.6 engine (04 CTS & 06 SRX). For me the 3.6 was ANYTHING BUT a great engine. It burned oil and had weak timing chains (made more fragile when run with low oil). Normal oil consumption in these engines was often 1-2 quarts per 1,000 miles. I kept a stock of oil on the shelf in the garage because I was checking and adding regularly. GM's "fix" was to shorten the oil change cycle in the oil life monitor system. (Can you tell I'll never buy another GM vehicle?)

Ultimately I want a premium branded luxury sedan, or a NEW GTI. I have a project SC300, and the Camaro, so I don't need the fastest car in the world nor the sportiest. I want something I can take on long trips from AZ to NE, have good luggage space for fitting luggage, and have a luxurious interior. I'm narrowed down to the 2006-2007 Infiniti M45, M35, G37 (coupe..only coupes I'm looking at are the G37 and 135i), G37 sedan, BMW 135i, 335i, 535i, Lexus IS350, GS350, GS430..Has to be reliable, not too expensive to insure, and something I can drive every day. I'm leaning at the Infiniti M/G, and the Lexus' for reliability..I know the Lexus' have a higher quality interior as far as build quality..but I can get the M/G for a little less and they are a little sportier.

The list you originally posted looked like a good one. But I think you may be focusing a little too much on the idea of a so-called "premium" brand. There are a lot of non-"premium" cars out there that, IMO, are just as impressive, if not more so, than premium ones. The new Ford Fusion is a good example. So are the Buick Regal and Verano. So is the Nissan Altima. So is the Kia Optima. I myself have a new Verano, and love it (25K brand-new).....and new turbo versions can be had for around 30K, if you can spend a litle more than the 25-27 you suggest.

I don't simply trust magazines either. In this case, they happen to compile all of their reliability data from a large reader survey, they buy the cars they test from dealers off the lot rather than borrowing loaners that may have received extra attention, and they don't have any advertising, which makes them a unique and reputable organization, especially for a car buyer.

I drove a M35. It's a excellent car inside and out. Very smooth ride and a strong engine.

2009 Pontiac G8 GT - NO
2011 Audi A3 - Yes
MK6 GTI/R - NO
BMW 335i - Yes
BMW 135i - NO
BMW 535i - Yes
Cadillac CTS - NO
G37 Sedan - Yes
Lexus GS350 - NO
Lexus IS350 - Yes
VW CC 2.0T - NO

this is my opinion on the above. I would suggest, may not be necessary now, but since you have 2 smaller cars (COUPES) a mid sized sedan could be a good idea starting a family.

don't buy new given your daily mileage. better to fine a clean used CPO or Private Party IMO.

Good luck
