My own thought was that because the Z06 puts out 625hp. A ZR1 could do 730+hp to take on the F12 Berlinetta

Naw Vette ZR1 is front engine RWD like the F12, while the 458 is mid engine. They match up more evenly

I might be getting old but I think a car with <11 secs 1/4 mile is just not fun for the streets as they are too scarry and the fun sensation is too short. Yes some might say that people said x years ago that x secs cars were too scarry too but technology had changed. True, technology changes but people's average skills and reaction time don't.

I guess you don't like the Shelby GT500 w/662hp for $55K

I do see what you are saying tho.

He says that because the 458 Italia destroys the F12 Berlinetta at the track.

Crushing Germans and Italians at a Track Near You
Inside, where the competition sport seats remain optional, the Z06 is similar to a Stingray with wrapped leather surfaces and premium materials. One new interior color (blue) will be available. A unique three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel is the biggest differentiator from the Stingray.

Probably the biggest news with the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is its price. Final pricing isn't announced yet, but GM insiders insist that its cost will be comparable to the outgoing Z06, which started at $76,595.

"If you could afford the previous Z06, you can afford this one," said Juechter. Look for the Z06 to hit dealers in early 2015, followed shortly by a mass exodus of Ferraris and Porsches from tracks across the country.

Right, but to they line-up slightly differently which is why the F12 is a better choice if a ZR1 came to fruition. The 458 mid-engine is about as sports car exotic as you can get. At least with front engine, RWD it lends to a slight Touring effect and better daily driving.

New Gray is amazing. I might ditch the plan of getting Red for Gray.
