C7 (2014+) Corvette Thread
The brand new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray’s are just starting to hit the streets and we’ve got some dyno results from one of the first customer purchased cars. The new C7 Corvette is powered by a direct injected 6.2L V8 with active fuel management and variable valve timing rated at 460HP from Chevy.
To see just how much power the new Vette makes in the real world, the folks over at LPE put this great looking Cyber Grey Metallic Stingray Covette on their DynoJet for a few baseline pulls. The new Corvette did very well putting down 416 horsepower and 416 ft-lbs of torque to the rear wheels through the 7 speed automatic transmission. Using a 15% drivetrain loss this puts the new Corvette at 489 horsepower and torque which is almost as much as what the old Corvette C6 Z06 was rated at.
We’re sure LPE is already modding this new Corvette and we’re interested to see what kind of power gains are available as they become available soon. Take a look at the dyno graph, pictuers and video below and check back soon for the first timeslips we see come in from the drag strips:

The 2014 Stingray is absolutely magnificent. Those are your cliff notes. The seats are amazing, the tech is cool, the car looks amazing the engine is full of power, the Interior is upgraded and the shifter is like butter.
Grand Slam homerun and the price is a bargain! It's near impossible to get one it seems but if you are in the market I think this is a car that will transcend from the usual Corvette base.
Great job Gm, more to come soon.

Probably no surprise, but GM is hoping the new Corvette attracts a younger buyer to the brand. Strategic Vision says the median age of Corvette buyers has risen from 54 to 61 over the past 10 years. That's up in ES/LS territory.

GM files patent for 7-speed DCT, is it headed for Corvette?

Although a report last year indicated that the seventh-gen Chevrolet Corvette could be getting an eight-speed automatic transmission, it looks like General Motors might have some other plans in mind. General Motors recently filed a patent with the US Patent and Trademark Office for a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and CorvetteForum.com makes the obvious guess that this performance-enhancing gearbox could find its way a future version of Chevy's performance coupe.
The drawing above comes directly from the patent filing, and while the gearbox will almost certainly be used in more than just one model, it would be a welcomed replacement for the six-speed automatic currently found in the 2014 Corvette. The idea of a DCT in the already-impressive C7 Stingray definitely makes the rivalry between the Corvette and the Porsche 911 a little more intriguing.
