Lamborghini driver can't afford ticket, car impounded
A 22-year-old driver has had his car impounded for driving without insurance.
What makes this case unique -- the car is worth almost half a million dollars and the driver says he can't afford to pay his $500 fine.
Mounties pulled the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador over in Richmond because it didn't have a front license plate. When the officer found out the car wasn't insured, he gave the driver from West Vancouver the ticket.
"[The officer] issued a violation ticket for no insurance and was going to tow the vehicle. And when the owner got the ticket his reply was that it was too expensive," explains Corporal Robert McDonald with RCMP Traffic Services
So into the tow yard the 690 horse powered car goes.
The website wheels.ca says Canadian prices for a Lamborghini Aventador start at $430,000 and the car can go from zero to 100 kilometres an hour in under three seconds.
"It is just funny that you can afford the Lamborghini but you can't afford the insurance? You can't afford the ticket?" adds McDonald.

I am taking it, that the parents bought the car and told him, that he will have to pay for the insurance and everything else himself.

Its not uncommon for rich parents to buy their kid an expensive car, and make insurance, gas, tickets and other misc related expenses the kids responsibility. However, more often than not, the kid is a deadbeat that can't hold any sort of job, and spends all of the money he comes across on liquor and pot. I've seen this happen all too often.

50-100k is too little if one is driving a half a million dollar plus car, unless all their value is not liquid in investments. Most people I know keep that much in the bank for living expenses and they drive modest cars.
