I live in Yuma , Arizona and it is hot and sunny here. My saleman suggested I purchase from them a ceramic window tint. he said it will stop alot of the heat from coming in to the car. does anyone have this on their car? Are you happy with it? what are the pros and cons?
Sorry....tried ceramic...never noticed ANY cooling difference at all with tint....car cover or window shade do a ton better.
you probably got ripped off if you had it tinted in Houston, took my car to a reputable Formula one tinter in Austin.. Major difference compared to metal or hybrid tint. (since i had ceramic tint, my GS is barely even warm in the cabin [car sitting in the sun all day in Houston].
Before you put on the tint, ask them to make sure your AM or FM radio reception wouldn't be affected. I don't think ceramic tint would, but not too sure. I still remember my 03 G35 sedan's AM reception had been drastically weakened due to the tint I put on. But yes, the interior would be much cooler.
Crystalline window films reject up to 97% of the sun's heat producing infrared light and block up to 60% of the heat coming through your windows.
Designed to maintain the appearance of your car, Crystalline films allow up to 90% of the light into your vehicle. Because these films are non-metallized, you can be assured of zero interference with GPS or cell phone signals.
Tinting darkness, and the specific vehicle windows it is permitted on, varies state by state. One has to consult the specific tint-laws for the state the car is registered in. The shop doing the work should know what applicable laws apply in the state...otherwise they shoudn't be in buisness.
ceramic tint doesn't affect any antenna reception. metallic tint is the big no-no on that
ceramic tint ftw
its about double the price of regular tint, but its definitely worth it. some members on the forum run colored ceramic tint along with their cars lugs, wheels, etc. to set off the car and i think it looks amazing
AZ IIRC allows pretty much all window tint. I'd do Ceramic 15% or 5% if possible all the way around and 50% on the windshield.
However, I wouldn't have the dealer do it for me. I bet they're looking to charge you 450-500 to get it done, you can get it done at a reputable tint shop for 250-350.
