First off, congrats on the new car.
Question though. Please tell me they stuck the front Euro plate on with double sided tape and will have it all cleaned up before you take possession States side?
Now not to get into an argument about the "better" car, but 1 second on a 20 km track on different days and different conditions is ridiculous at best.
I would certainly agree that the M5 is the better "bang for the buck" but both cars have their strengths and weaknesses and I'll leave it at that (and you can see that I have an affinity for BMW's ).

The cornering grip of the M5 is quite astonishing.
The Ring times are 7:55 for the F10 M5 and 7:56 for the Panamera Turbo. So if you believe the Nurburgring is a good test of performance balancing challenging corners and straights, then the M5 is a better performance car than the Panamera Turbo.
That said, for me, the measure of a car is not the numbers, but how it feels to drive it, and this is where the M5 nails a 4WD Porsche sedan. The driving dynamics are just on another level.

Yo Batman, were you able to verify with BMW Germany if your car is/was exempted from the OIL PUMP recall?
If your unit is part of the recall, then it would be wise to let them fix it for you before sending it to Stateside.

Congrats, awesome trip!
I picked up my M3 last year via BMW's European Delivery program and it was an amazing trip. That was a major factor for me deciding to get an M3 over the ISF. Picking up a M3 in Germany, driving on the autobahn, nurburgring, etc was such a memorial experience for me. Trip I will never forget for sure!

IND just managed to pull sub 12 second quarter mile in the factory trim, they also manage to run 1:40 at the track again in factory trim at autobahn country club track. One can only imagine what this beast is capable of when IND and AMS is done with this car. I must say I am impress.......

I'm happy for your purchase and no doubt it's a great Autobahn stormer but :
2013 M5( Insideline Full Test Review) :
Slalom, 6 x 100 ft. (mph) 68.9
Slalom, 6 x 100 ft. (mph) ESC ON 67.6
2013 GS350 F-Sport (Insideline Full Test Review) :
Slalom, 6 x 100 ft. (mph) 69.7
Slalom, 6 x 100 ft. (mph) ESC ON 67.7
In most real-world situations, the M5 is faster and you'll almost never autocross or be on such a small handling circuit but it does give an idea of how much the extra weight of the new M5 penalizes its dexterity and lightfootedness despite its 260hp advantage.

The M5 pulls 0.95g on the skidpad. I have never seen a GS350 beat 0.91g
Also Inside line is not great at gear shifts. I noticed they measured 0-60 in 4.5. I could do 4.2 at the drag strip in my 550 Dinan which had a 25% HP deficit to the M5 and no LSD.
Nurburgring lap times are much more interesting because they give you a sense of the car on an open road. So to use Nurburgring lap times as context:
Lexus LFA 7:14
BMW M5 7:55
Lexus ISF 8:18
But that said all these numbers are meaningless. The time of the Scion FRS would be nowhere, and that car is a blast to drive. It is all about the experience, and what I love about the M5 is that it is fun, it excites me, my pulse rises when I open the door, and when I just want to chill out, I find it as comfortable as the best luxury cars. That is a pretty special combination.
