Default Lexus Considers CT Derivatives

Lexus Considers Derivatives as CT Hybrid Sales Accelerate
http://m.wardsauto.com/sales-amp-mar...les-accelerate

Templin says the CT is having the intended effect of bringing new buyers not only to Lexus, but also to the luxury segment. Most are coming from the mass-market Japanese brands – Honda, Nissan and Toyota. Others are trading in German luxury models.

“It really is a good car for moving people into luxury for the first time,” he says.

The median buyer age for the Lexus CT is 53, below the brand’s median age of 59, the auto maker says. The hatchback’s buyers have a median annual household income of $150,000, more than the $100,000 bracket originally forecast.

Although Lexus did not plan to offer anything smaller than the CT compact 5-door in the U.S., Templin, noting the car’s success, now says there is a “possibility to build other vehicles off that platform” to grow sales to new, younger luxury buyers

Then that will screw up the weight and throw off the superb handling of the car. I agree with a coupe version that can do battle with the BMW 1series.

That's what I was thinking as well. I'm 39 and seeing the median age is 53 makes me wonder?

If the median age for that kind of car is 53 then they are telling me i shouldnt be driving at 37. lol. But what they are really saying is that thats whos really buying the CT instead of the proper target ages. I guess 50 somethings love those cars just as much as 30 sometings.

You do have a point about parents signing for there kids. All the CTs i saw were driven by 20-30 year olds. I just cant see many folks in there 50s driving around in CTs with the cramped interior and sport-like rides. I can see them the IS before the CT.

The median age means 1/2 the buyers are over age 53 AND 1/2 the buyers are under 53. That covers a wide spread in ages which seems probable..
