Really, 6 going on 7 years now and still no redesign huh......then I guess the up coming new S-Class also looks like will be just a major facelift.

I feel though this is happening across most brands, the 4GS is more like a major facelift, same as the BMW F30........etc.

Same here, no new power trains from Lexus for a very long time now, the last few new generations of cars all had carry over engine and tranny...........4GS, 6ES, Lexus desparately need to put their 5.0L V8 into everything. Especially now that even Hyundai have a 5.0L V8 in their Genesis and Equus, so Lexus is behind even a lesser brand

^Yes, because Lexus isn't dropping a 5.0L V8 into the entire lineup, they are "behind a lesser brand"

is right

if that's how you separate between redesign (new generation) vs facelift

Yeah that's how I look at it, I think I look at the general shape and power train.

Like the 2GS -> 3GS, everything is completely different. But 3GS -> 4GS, the car got the same general shape, carry over drivetrain........etc. To me the 4GS just got new bumpers, interior and suspension, that is a major facelift to me.

Same as E9X -> F3X, same general shape, carry over drivetrain..........

Power is not everything. But it is definitely a huge factor for a car.

What is the biggest and probably the only complain on the 4GS? No upgrade in powertrains.

And no upgrade in drivetrains either. Same old 6AT.

uh, while engines / transmissions are similar/same, the 4GS is ENTIRELY different otherwise from the 3GS, so i can't see how you can see it as a major facelift, but of course you're entitled to that view!

back to the additional pics... that looks bigger than an ES to me - and if it's recent, why would it have camo?

Don't forget no foglights on the GS F Sport.

That's true, but it does shift faster than the previous and it throttle blips on manual downshifts. It's a step up in refinement and feel.

Yes, in my mind when I say powertrains, that include the tranny and even the diffs.

The same old 6AT is certainly another let down, now when the $12k Hyundai Accent come with a 6AT and a $47k Genesis come with a 8AT.
