Next Generation IS F with 450+ HP?
#32
Yup, I mean current. And yeah the engine was fine 7 years ago and it's still fine now, but why not make it better? If they still use the current one, it will not get 350hp because they are tuning engine for reliability. Same engine with bigger displacement is different story. I was just replying to previous poster about 350hp though. I never think about that before since it would be too close to IS-F.
IS250 -> 250hp (a turbo 4 would be cool IMO)
IS350 -> 350hp
IS F -> 450hp
Yes. Yes. Do it Lexus!

Best Car Magazine reports the next IS F will have a 450+ HP V8 and be available in a sedan, coupe and convertible. Obviously the rendering looks a little awkward but the stats look promising. Fingers are crossed that this will be a true M3 fighter.
2014/2015? Lexus IS F
Overall Length: 4680mm (184.3")
Width: 1820mm (71.7")
Height: 1400mm (55.1")
Engine: V8 DOHC
Displacement: 4968cc
Power: 475ps (469hp) @ 7000rpm
Economy: 10.0km/l (23.5mpg)
More on that GS F to come...
If we are talking about 475 ps for the V8 5.0 then why can we not talk about the 360 ps or the V6 3.5? Look at the renderings on the top right corner....

best car magazine. it's actually nothing new, japanese auto mag always come out with rumors and news about next generation vehicles, different renderings, and potential specs. some of them materialize, but plenty of them got way off. whether this is true remains to be seen, these kind of rumors have been brewing since about 6 months ago (i think there is a thread in isf forum about it).
regardless, i think these kind of articles are good in boosting interest and allow lexus to hear what people want / think

I think they are more than capable of making 350hp reliably out of the 3.5 and I for one would love to see it. Even 350ps. Fact is this generation of engines isn't ready for replacement, and likely won't be replaced till the model following this one (if Toyota's history is anything to go by). And why should they? I'm sure there is still much left in it. These engines haven't even seen valvematic adapted to them yet.

I do not understand why some people are complaining about any renderings, when there are already posted OFFICIAL images of the 2014 IS in silhouette from the NAIAS. It's there, so look a little. It's all we're getting for now until Lexus HQ decides to show anymore teasers or pilot production models testing. BTW, I do mean "official" in reference to the fact that the video was made by Lexus themselves late last year to feature upcoming new models. Those were not renders at all, but the real deal onscreen. The front of the Japanese render is much closer to the actual thing than anything else out there.

The rendering doesn't do it for me.
I like the additional horsepower and associated performance tweaks.
I doubt Lexus or BMW will ever develop an exclusive "killer": the perpetual biting in the _ss is what motivates each brand to better refine their products and market position...it's their reason for being.
With that said, I would consider buying next gen in '14/'15.

I like the look.. although I must say after the GS F sport came out, thats exactly how I thought the next gen IS would look. My only disappointment is that I wasn't surprised.
