Pretty nice overall. Looks 20 years newer than the outgoing model.
I like the hint of Camaro in the front. As others mentioned, that character line over the rear fender is way overdone. The overall design would flow much better without it.
The other negative is the trunk opening line. Awkwardly runs over the side. BMW's and others have done it, and it never worked aesthetically. The overall trunk shape is a little too "bangled" as well. I thought this trend was going away?
Definite improvement, but there are so many other cars in this segment that look way better.
I don't know what the price will be, but since the Malibu is gunning for the Camry/Sonata/Accord segment, I assume this will go against the Avalon/Azera segment.
I've seen the new Malibu on the road and IMO, it looks stunning. Having seen the pics of the new Avalon/Azera, this thing seemingly doesn't have a chance. However, the old Impala didn't have a shot either, but it still sold, either to fleets, die hard built-in-the-USA uninformed, or those shopping by price alone. This Impala won't make you an immediate laughing stock. And I mentioned before, I can see this becoming a much more successful SS variant in the future.
