Well, looking back on this thread a year later, I see how totally confused i was about this.
But in that last year since this thread was started, I've taken a few days of high-performance driving school at Laguna Seca, tracked my IS F at Sears Point, read tons of posts on Club Lexus and watched a couple episodes of Top Gear. And with that newly gained knowledge, I remain, well, totally confused.
However, I did make a decision.
After careful consideration, tradeoff analysis and spreadsheets about lease v buy, gas milage, commute needs, reliability, cost effectiveness, ability to transport passengers and stuff, and ROI, I said screw all that and I bought this:
Pretty sure it has an motor in there somewhere, but I can't find it.

Congratulations. A sharp-looking car. And, yep, the "ability to transport passengers and stuff" must not have been much of a priority.

Sometimes, you have to stop using common sense and forethought and just think with your gonads/gut/whatever rings your bell.
