Article-Acura takes dead aim... at mediocrity

I left Honda/Acura in the dust after my Prelude SH was totaled. GREAT car if you wanted to leave it nearly stock. Horrible wakeup call to the philosophy of that company getting in the way of what customers, especially enthusiast customers, actually want.
The original NSX and S2000 will always be the exceptions to the rule. By and large, Honda is an incredibly sadistic car company to enthusiasts post-90's and it has never been more apparent than now. The original TSX is a nice car because it's a variation of the Japanese Accord. I don't think they even offer manuals any longer.
Honda/Acura are an afterthought to me even when recommending a few models for someone to research.

I like the term "smart premium". This is for those frugal luxury buyers who dont want all of that flash and name recognition with all of the familiarity of their low end Honda products. LOL

Just when we thought they couldn't become any more mediocre, Acura replaces the nice TSX with the smaller ILX . "ILX"? Really Acura, that's the name you come up with? It's a further move downmarket than the TSX. Why? The TSX was already smaller than the Accord, and now this.

^^ The GSR and Type R were good models but it was a case of Acura turning the HONDA INTEGRA into an Acura. The RSX wasn't the same car.
I had a 1995 Legend sedan as a loaner once. It was an excellent drive and you could feel the quality. And what other company engineered a longitudinal V6 with a FWD transaxle? I thought it was a batty idea but nonetheless interesting. Still a timeless design and you had some nice performance for the 1990's with the GS Type II 6-speed manual versions (sedan an coupe).
Acura got it right with their second generation cars. After that they never had the same thunder.
