Four-door supercars line up, drag out their differences

The latest BMW M5, Jaguar XFR, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Porsche Panamera S all have lots of things in common. They all have four doors, V8 engines underhood, hail from high-end European automakers known for luxury and performance and can all be had for a wee bit under $100,000.

But which one is fastest?

Well, that depends on how you're planning to measure speed. Do you mean top speed? The time it takes to circle a given race track? Or do you mean in a drag race, the quintessential way to compare a car's ability to accelerate in a straight line?

If that's the case, you'll find your answer in the video after the break. You'll see each of the aforementioned automobiles lined up against one another, racing flat-out over the distance of 1,000 meters.

wow, i think this is first time i see a m5 pulling on amg in a straight drag. that car is seriously fast.

from the start, seems like m5 had a better launch though

 

The M5 really gets my love, I honestly love it more than the previous monster v10. I can just imagine what the tuning capabilities will be for this forced injection beast!!

 

exterior / interior not even a contest, the f10 win by big margin. though the engine i probably think the higher rev v10 is cooler than the tt v8. but then for the tranny dct blows away the smg. and yes, tt v8, imagine the potential

 

I was rooting for the Jag! Sexiest IMO. I was surprised at the Porsche. It may of had a bad launch. Wonder of the AWD would of faired better

 

i am not as "surprised" though. the panamera s has "only" 400hp and 0-60 is rated low 5. comparing to 550hp that's quite a gap. i think they set it up so everything is right around 100k price tag, thus why they chose the panamera s. if it's the turbo it will probably be a lot more fun (for a lot more money too)

I've been in the new m5 and the new amg
and benz just makes me drool

 

First saw this on MBWorld, the M5 is surely a beast but the E63 driver was sleeping at the launch. If they would have launched at the same time, the 63 would've put up a greater fight but I think the M5 probably would've still walked on the 63.

 

The M5 is fast! I didn't think it would pull on the AMG that hard.

 

Oops your right. I assumed it was a Turbo S with near the same power as the others
