I Need Help On Buying a 2GS
Services include: 1k miles service fluid check, Battery r&r, mobil paint touchup, resurface break rotors, balance 2 front tires, 10k maintenance, secure b pillar, replaced front rotors and pads, painless dent removal, and a few other minor stuff.
i really don't mean to offend you, and i really try (tried) to help. but i think the best i can do is really not to say much.
it took you 10 months to pay down your debt by 2500 and you have another 5k to go, so that's like another two years. and on top you decide that you want to put another 7k debt on top. given your ability in paying off things, that seems to be a big burden.
i can't seem to understand the concept of doing luxury when your intention is to try pay off debts and lead a new life with saving up more. if the ls400 is breaking down big time and you spend money to get a camry, i think that's a good move and i applaud for it. it's a good reliable car, it's likely cheaper than the gs, better gas mileage as well. when your debts are all over, have a good stable job pulling in good money, then what you decide to do that's your problem.
but before all that? again, i think this is the time i stop saying anything further

LS isn't breaking down, took it to a mechanic this morning. Identified the problem, nozzle needs to be replaced; shouldn't cost more than $100.
As for my debt, it's not gonna take 2 years to pay it off. Will be debt free by Nov. '12. Probably won't be getting the GS.
I'll post more information later tonight, 2 pics I wanna post, but now I'm working with my dad and using my phone to post; so I can't really do much.

good choice
there is no benefit in terms of mpg going to a 2jz
now you can wait and save up a bit more for a more modern car with much better mpg
anything post 2006 should be decent
advancements in fuel mileage these days are almost as fast as apple is coming out with new technologies... by 2015, we should see some really economical yet fun and luxurious vehicles

LOL, if your main concern is about gas, skip the 2GS with the I6. This is coming from an owner of an IS300. My MPG is 20 combined.
EDIT: I don't want to be a life coach, and I've mentioned this before in many of your other threads of cars you're looking at, but stop looking to buy something, stick with what you got. It works. Why spend money when you don't have it when what you have works perfectly fine?

Keep the LS and pay off any debt you got. When your done, buy a car within your budget and you won't have to worry about making the car payments if you buy responsibly. Or if the LS is still running fine, keep it and save the cash you would have spent on a car payment. It's the best thing you will do for yourself financially right now
So, I mentioned how I had all those lights on. Well, this is what the problem was, and us fixing it afterwards:
Problem

Solution

So, about a month ago, when i got my oil change, the mechanic noticed that that nozzle had a hole on the side near the end that was releasing air. He cut it and tried to insert the nozzle back in, but the end was super dry, so he made that little temporary piece.
I guess that was what the problem was, because air was being released again. So, we had that entire nozzle replaced, as well as the thing that it's connected to (forgot what the word was).
But the car is good now, and I'm a happy camper. Gonna be testing it for the next few weeks and see if any lights go on, but for now. My 22 year old LS is running perfectly fine.
Damn, I love Lexus.
