I found another Camry coupe but V6 with 193k miles for $2400. Think I can talk it down to $2000. But yeah I don't know the history of it.

I've put $2k into my Camry a year ago for cv joints, timing belt, etc. So mechanically its good but engine. But for now I think I'll tow it back and either save up or get another beater. Problem is, I can't park it for long since I'm in an apt. complex and they tow cars with expired tags. Thanks for all the suggestions thus far.

Seriously? It can't be hard at all to find a good condition 5S-FE. Millions of cars had those engines, and I"m sure any JDM engine importer place could locate a good one for you.

Lol. Yeah plus I think the conversion from I4 to V6 would be expensive.

Had the oil pan gasket replaced. I guess the seals weren't installed properly by the shop. I ran it with the check engine oil light on for a month but didn't think much of it. One day as I was driving, it just shut off on the highway. Good thing I was getting off the ramp. Opened the hood, the engine block was red lol. Pulled the oil stick and had zero oil in it. The shop said oil was leaking from the gasket. Took it back to the place where my gasket seals where done and they refused to take responsibility saying I let it run for a month like that. Plus my repair warranty was up. I guess it was mainly fault.

Shame, the car could of ran forever.

Why would you not do anything with the oil pressure light on for a month? Especially after having parts replaced that had to do with oil leaking? That should've raised huge red flags. No wonder they aren't fixing it.

Haha, he already admitted it was his fault, no need to drill him to the ground and curb stomp him.

EDIT: Now he'll know that ignoring maintenance lights/CEL/whatever other lights on the dash is an expensive lesson to learn.

Here in San Diego we can drive to any of the few dozen salvage yards along the border and they will pull and install an engine from a wreck and drop it in your car for $800-$1000 even comes with a warranty.

Thats the only option I would consider for a beater.
