Default Supra Dilemma

Ok guys. Im looking for a car when i get back to the states. I narrowed it down to a GTE SC300 and TT Supra. Well all know their the same thing except the body and interior. I currently have a SC300 so i decided to go with a supra. Im not leaveing the Lexus scene. No worries. I wanted a car with some looks and serious power. So one has a ton of power, completely built and looks great. Couldnt ask for more. Its pushing over 1000hp which is awesome. The only downfall is for a vehicle like that, your looking to putting some kind of cage in it and it already has one. Me and my wife arnt too thrilled about it but i guess i could deal with it. The interior has been replaced with some racing seats. The rear seats have been removed to accomodate for the cage. The power is great but the price is 3k over my price limit. Now the other supra is pushing about 400hp, completely stock on the inside and out with a couple engine mods to get it there. Car is 1 of 21 built that year with that paint. I love being different so that one makes a lot of sense to me and he is asking exactly what im willing to fork out. So my dilemma is i want the speed, but i want the rare vehicle at the same time. Ive came to the conclusion of letting my wife decide and shes with the rare car also. I wanted to see what fellow clublexus members had to say. Thanks for your input

Only buy the one that's pushing over 1000hp if you know exactly what has been done to the motor and understand that upkeep is going to be more difficult and expensive then a smaller build. I know people that buy cars that are fully built and then have no idea what to do when something goes wrong with the motor and have to cough up a good amount of money to get it fixed. If you understand the motor and are comfortable knowing its gonna need to be cared for a bit differently, might not bad so bad. But with 1000hp i can almost guarantee you that car has been smashed on hard lol. But i think you answered your own question when you said "the car is 3k over my price limit". Don't pay over your budget for a car, especially for a built one that is probably gonna cost you extra to maintain.

Out of those 2 i'd say go for the 400hp one. Seems to be in your budget, not as much of a build to take care of and you seem to like the uniqueness of the color anyways

In the end, it looks like your wife has the final say anyways

400hp one sounds like it's better suited towards being your driver. the 1khp stripped out caged supra is a track machine, unless you and your wife are willing to live with that...

I agree with this, the other Supra can be a tuning nightmare for you.

It may sound cool, but driving around everyday in a track car can be pretty tiresome. Plus its over budget. Get the other one.

Its a 97 RSP.

I like both of these cars and ive already kinda gave the white one the boot for me becuase of the motor being under a lot of stress. I feel like i could get it and it would take a dump on me before i know it becuase of the abuse. Ive also found another 97 pushing around 800 (high boost) with an extremely similar setup i was looking to run. His asking price is under my budget but i think ima try to get it down even more. Im a lil too anxiouos for a car but i notcie a lot of supras are salvage titles and high milage so im looking for something clean and a lil on the lower side.

Get the one that's closer to stock. It's hard to find one that's not beat up and modded to hell. The more scarce a stock Supra is, the more it's worth. There will be people down the line who will pay top dollars for a clean Supra.

right now its so hard to find anything. and then i got about 6 months till im really gonna be able to pick one up. I could have my wife do all the paperwork to pick one up but id rather be there and deal with it. People on s.f. seem to not wanna give the time of day half the time. My timeline sucks but all i know is someone is gonna get a big chunk of cash in their had for the time they give me

You're letting your wife decide so you obviously know "Happy wife = a happy life." ha ha The closer to stock one gets my vote as well. You can mod it to make it faster and know what you're in for vs. getting someone elses modded Supra and not being so sure about it unless everything is documented in detail. Good luck and enjoy what you get when you get it.

I would just get the 400HP one and build it the way I want. 1000HP is too much, plus you don't know the history of it. Additonally, the rare one just fits in your budget so you can buy it and save up for the build later. Good luck.
