Default Smartkey - Reprogrammable???

I lost the spare smartkey for my '07 ES and was hoping to not have to pay over $200 for a new one. Does anyone know if a programmed smartkey(i.e. one being sold on ebay) can be reprogrammed for my vehicle. I saw some posts saying it is possible, but when i call the dealerships in my area(Long Island) they say "no". Has anyone had experience with this?

I've heard mixed reviews on here too. Some people have said they had no issues buying a key off ebay and paying the dealership an hour of labor to get it reprogrammed. Others have had the same issue as you, they get a key and the dealership won't program it. I dunno what's up with that. It looks like it is possible....but some dealers are just unaware of it. Programming a blank key isn't a problem of coruse, but when it comes to the ones that need to be erased and reprogrammed, it always seems to be 50/50 at different dealers.
