He is BACK!!
First and foremost, congrats on the new IS. The car is timeless and will look great for a long time to come, IMO
On another note, it seems to me like something about your car buying experience just isn't really making sense. You've looked at so many things over the years: used Aston Martins, M3, ISF, GX460, Cayenne, ZR1, X5, 911, Cobra, etc. and then you get a Jetta, which is obviously below the caliber/price range of everything else you were cross shopping. If I recall, you said that you picked it up as a cheap, fun commuter car. Fair enough.
A while after the Jetta, you claim that you're once again looking at $60K+ toys like Porsche, Lexus, BMW, etc.
Now, in your post above, you preface the IS purchase by saying that it works because you have "a LOT going on right now." Fair enough, but if that is the case, why trade the Jetta for an IS when they're about the same size but a Jetta is far more economical to run and repair than an IS?
Then, just above, you say you're now looking at boats? Won't you need something to tow a boat with?
I work in the financial industry so maybe I take greater notice of such details, but I'm just having trouble connecting the dots

But to go with your post, it just seems like a lot of wasted members time on ALL the prior threads about all those cars that it seems is far far out of budget.....
Just because you are looking at expensive cars and buy a cheaper one doesn't mean you can't afford it, you may just want to save some money my father was looking at quattroportes but got an rx350 instead because of where dealerships are...congrats on the purchase
FWIW.... to put MOST of the questions to bed (and I don't have to justify to anyone...
)... a project we have been working on for 3+ years, which has been on the verge of funding over 50 times, has wound up in perpetual hold thanks to the powers that be on Wall Street, DC, Europe.... etc... and rather than get into a political rant, suffice to say that we, just like MANY others, have been lied to and disappointed in "the system". Believe in America, DREAM BIG... we gave it a shot....
If you're in finance, or have lived in the US for over 15 minutes, I shouldn't have to say another word.
So rather than continuing to wait for my "retirement" many times over, I have shifted along with the times... my lease was up on my Jetta, VERY happy to back with a Lexus IS and what my current "lifestyle" supports.

So this post will put the "history" for me to this point to bed FOR GOOD and I move forward... for those who'd like to dwell and question "all my previous posts"... time to get a life... I finally have...

Congratulations, Russ.
Did you get the IS250AWD? Your post doesn't say.
If so, I can understand why, since you live in the WI Snow-Belt. But, still, keep in mind that an AWD 250, while obviously giving more winter traction than the RWD model, is no Outback. Its low-profile, performance-oriented rubber and low ground-clearance are not suited to deep snow.
