Default Infiniti M45

Anyone on here have any experience with the M45. I am looking to sell my IS350 and get into a bigger V8 sedan. The M45 seems to be a great value. I really would prefer a BMW 550I or MB E550, but everyone I have talked to says the only way to get one of these is to lease it. I'm not a fan of leasing so that isn't an option. I keep my cars fairly long term, and put a lot of miles on them (30,000+ a year), so need something with fairly low upkeep. I had an 05 Infiniti Q45, so don't think the M45 would be much different. Im thinking the 08 or 09 model. I'd even opt for an 06 or 07 if I could get a spectacular deal. Any advice would help. Oh and I already have a GS430. Only mentioning that b/c I know people on here will mention me getting one of those.

When i was looking for my current car I took a look at the M45...

Its a nice car. Just a few items to think about:

1) Owners are avg 12-15 mpg.. on a car that is fast but not AMG/M fast.

2) I dont know what your looking for but its a bigger car and does not handle that well. But you know as you had a Q before. Its on par with the GS.. I also was not that impressed with how much faster the V8 felt than my old GS400.

3) The suround 5.1 bose sound system is AMAZING.. when you use DVD-CD's it kills the ML systems that I have listened to... Find one with that set up I mean it has speakers in the Front seats-- How can you lose?

4) I am not sure, but I dont think there are a ton of aftermarket perf parts available for the M45.

5) They are a killer value right now, so don't let the Infiniti haters on this site deter you.

I know they are very reliable with a few wiggles here and there.. Very similar to your GS and your Q...

Good Luck..

I have an M45, albeit, the older design, but I think the V8 engine wasn't changed on the next generation model. I average about 14 MPG. No real issues with the engine otherwise, the car drives smoothly yet feels fairly sporty for an old car that weighs so much. Almost next to nothing in terms of aftermarket mods, but thats for my generation, you may have different luck with the newer one.

One thing that I don't like about Infiniti, my paint job is not great. I think its much lower quality and probably thinner than the paint on my old Acura CL, and not as good as on my BMW. The Infiniti seems to get paint chips much easier than my other cars, and has more noticeable orange peel. Since Lexus paint quality is better than all those brands, you may want to look out for it.

My Q got horrible gas mileage. The Bose system in my Q45 beat the hell out of the ML in my GS430, but it wasn't as good as the ML in my IS350. Im not to worried about aftermarket parts. I tent to keep my cars stock. My Q was black and the paint quality was terrible. Also Infiniti service was no where near the quality of Lexus. The only thing making me lean towards this car is the price. Its a lot of car for the money.

Test drove m45 couple of years back and loved it. Probably would've gotten it if wife didn't want an suv. It's fast although not super fast, it still looks good, feels luxurious, and it's a good size sedan. Perfect as a dd if you dont care about gas prices.
