I don't think that Hyundai can legally use the I30 designation.....Infiniti has already used it on one of its former mid-size sedans. (in fact, I almost bought an I30...ended up getting a Lexus IS300 instead). If Hyundai goes through with it, there could (?) be a confrontation between the two companies.

Hyundai has been using this naming scheme for some time now...plus it's lower case not capitalized. It's also the same reason why Audi doesn't use a capital Q for quattro. There is another brand called Quattro.

This car is basically an Elantra hatchback/wagon. There is an Elantra coupe coming out next year as well.

I like it alot, especially the interior. Still not a big hatchback fan, except the VW Golf (that's still an excellent looking hatch).

My favorite small/compact car exterior is still the Ford Focus. That's a simple yet nice small car design, in hatch or sedan.

I didnt see the shots of the interior. It looks amazing. The seats look much nicer than what you would generally get from the other models in its class

Not in the U.S., they haven't. Everything they've sold here has had a formal name, not a letter/number combination.

plus it's lower case not capitalized.
So was the Infiniti i30 badge I posted.

Quattro, of course, is Italian for "four".

Well its not like anyone knows/cares what an Infiniti I30 is and they probably feel the same about this I30 too
G wagon, G6, G8, G37, its not the first time a name is the same or similar.

All the Inififi I30's I've seen have the italicized, script, capital I.

The number usually stands for something. In this case, I have no clue what it stands for?! A 3.0 liter engine ?! hmmm...

If this car makes it stateside, they will probably call it the Elantra Touring, just like the previous version.

Today's budget-priced Hyundais and Kias, of course, are selling like hotcakes. That was not the case with the old Maxima-based Infiniti I30.

So it is like Sonata + Accent. It reminds me of a Ford Fiesta/Focus. Don't get me wrong, the i30 a really nice car. I am just not sure about the name. Who knows Apple might end up suing Intel, BMW and Hyundai for using the i, that is in front of the name of their products.
